*takes well earned TGPF break*

I'll tell you guys something for nothing; bathing 16 guinea pigs is such a pain in the piggy behind!

I've just got through the last of my herd for their first fungal baths. We've had an outbreak and now I'm home for Easter I'm taking charge of piggy care and the first step was 16 sets of Nizoral baths. My parents have been using Imaverol with some success, but with a few more piggies with outbreaks, the vet suggested we try Nizoral baths for a couple of weeks and see if that stops the nasty fungal in its tracks - so that's what I did today!

Luckily they're not too bad, a few patches on the face and some have a patch or two on their belly so we're Nizoral-ing, Imaverol-ing the outbreaks, and on the days where they don't have either of those, canestening the outbreaks.

This is a full time job. I don't know whose ridiculous idea it was to have 20 guinea pigs *shifty look* I kid - I'd have more and I'd do this every day if I had to for my boys and girls! I have no regrets whatsoever. My back might, but my mind and heart most definitely do not!

I'm definitely starting to develop an appreciation for rescues that quite possibly have to do this rather often - it's taken me 5 hours to do the baths and blow-dries, and I'm still not quite finished!

:laluot_20: I need a drink!

Ooft! I don't envy you. I thought it was bad bathing my two last week who were shouting like I was murdering them :)).

If you need to bath them again you should put an ad out for volunteers :))

Well done for managing to bath them all! It is back breaking work but worth it in the end. Have a sit down and a rest now. :)

You have my full sympathies - I found the sheer logistics of bathing, washing towels, washing the bedding of 16 piggies in three groups with a small washing machine and no drier a total nightmare when I had a ringworm outbreak earlier this year!

Any rescues have my full admiration; I simply ain't got the stamina...

I hope that you get on top of it quickly!

Ah that reminds me, need to bath my little Jasperling today, and do some grease glands and boy bits to clean :p

I'm not envious either! :))

Well done, all done for the love of your little ones x)

Hope you get on top of it quickly!

Your piggies will love you for it :)) I once bathed my 3 older girls in one sitting and that was bad enough! I think I had more water on me than they did! rolleyes

Woohooo! All 16 are back in their shed happily munching on hay. I am sooooo not looking forwards to repeating this on Sunday although that said, I should have dad on standby to help with passing pigs, rinsing pigs, and getting them dried. Doing it on my own with wriggly pigs that reallllly didn't appreciate mummy bathing them (I have the scratched up arms to prove it!) is insane! Perhaps I should have done the sensible thing and bathed them in two groups...

*sigh*

can't even imagine having to do that many baths, I'm sure it makes having a nice sit down at the end of the day 10x more satisfying !
