Adult Guinea Pig
*takes well earned TGPF break*
I'll tell you guys something for nothing; bathing 16 guinea pigs is such a pain in the piggy behind!
I've just got through the last of my herd for their first fungal baths. We've had an outbreak and now I'm home for Easter I'm taking charge of piggy care and the first step was 16 sets of Nizoral baths. My parents have been using Imaverol with some success, but with a few more piggies with outbreaks, the vet suggested we try Nizoral baths for a couple of weeks and see if that stops the nasty fungal in its tracks - so that's what I did today!
Luckily they're not too bad, a few patches on the face and some have a patch or two on their belly so we're Nizoral-ing, Imaverol-ing the outbreaks, and on the days where they don't have either of those, canestening the outbreaks.
This is a full time job. I don't know whose ridiculous idea it was to have 20 guinea pigs *shifty look* I kid - I'd have more and I'd do this every day if I had to for my boys and girls! I have no regrets whatsoever. My back might, but my mind and heart most definitely do not!
I'm definitely starting to develop an appreciation for rescues that quite possibly have to do this rather often - it's taken me 5 hours to do the baths and blow-dries, and I'm still not quite finished!
:laluot_20: I need a drink!
