Bertie has been out the garden whilst I cleaned him out. His run in partial shade he was out there for 30 minutes that is all. Teachers are on strike so next doors kids are at home. They put the piggies out about 10.30 and they are still there 2.30! They have a net over their run which is doing nothing. There is a tiny bit of shade, they keep going in it and then nomming on grass again! I have been round the house and the girls are out so have forgotten to get them in, I even tried to get in the side gate but that is padlocked. I keep talking to the piggies over the wall but cant get at them or they would be put in my kitchen in the cool. They dont even have any water.......

Oh goodness what an awful situation!

Are there any parents home? I'd be so worried that they didn't have water on a day like today :0

Deary me, how well do you get on with your neighbours? could you break into their garden? Poor piggies, is there a breeze and is it cool to the ground?

xx

Any chance you can throw a wet towel over the run? For shade and cooling. (I'm trying to picture where the run is, it might not be possible)

grrrr how irresponsible pow-pow
It's these kind of owners who don't have a clue that heat is more harmful than cold :x
Hope you can get to them...I'd be over the garden fence in a flash if only to get them some water and provide shade rolleyes Do you have a way of getting over there, a ladder or something ?
Such a sad thing that people do this sooo often and have fatal outcomes...8...

Is it possible to climb over the fence?! You could try that and take a water bottle with you or alternatively quickly get the pigs out and give them a cool down in a wet towel. Do you have the people's phone number? You could give them a ring and see what time they were coming back and offer to look after the pigs. Tell them that they look very hot and bothered and you really think they need to do something about it.

Good luck.

there was no way of actually getting at the piggies. The eldest girl came home about 4. She said her sister was supposed to get them in. I told her (fibbing) that they were very stressed out! Were they OK now? She said they argued over the water bottle as soon as they got in the cage. And they felt warm. What you arent going to believe is that they actually lost a piggie from heat stroke a couple of years ago....:0

poor piggies! glad they were okay. irresponsible people shouldn't be allowed to have pets!
