i am the worst guinea pig mother ever

i can't believe i only have got 2 guineas and i still can't cut their nails properly. I done Randy brilliant and he sat brill but then i done Smartie and i cut to far again and it bled. i had him wrapped up in a towel and put pressure on his foot to stop the bleeding and it did. I could tell he know i felt guilty as he gave me a big kiss but it doesn't make me feel any better. But at least i know that he has forgiven me. I feel awlful. I sat with them outside thinking that i should give them to someone who could look after them better than me.


Sorry to rant but i needed to get this off my chest

Aww you're not a bad piggy mummy ;) Accidents happen..it will probably have hurt him but not for long and I'm sure he's fine now :D

Maybe you could get someone else to cut his nails next time? Or get someone to help you? :smitten:
 
i wouldnt worry hun this doesnt make you a bad piggy mum, i once cut too much off my rabbits nail and it bled i felt really bad for ages... but accidents happen. I'm now supper careful now.
 
AWWWWWWWW dont be silly Shelley, You are not a bad piggy Mother, these things happen. even vets cut too far sometimes. Your Piggys know that you would never hurt them deiberately!

Dont be daft you are a great piggy mum and at least you cut their nails some people don't even bother!! Gosh I have accidentally cut Roanlds and it bled a little and he couldn't have cared less dont worry !! ;) ;) ;) ;)
 
I've been doing them for years and still occasionally nick a toe. Black and dark nails are the worst
 
hi hun,
three of my piggies nails i can cut fine but one of my piggys has dark nails and i made him bleed once. its really difficult to tell with dark nails where to cut. with that pig now i take the tiniest bit off his nails once a week. i found that easier than letting them grow for a few weeks and cutting them down like i do my others.
 
You're not a bad pig owner. You didn't mean to and even the best can still cut too short. As in the previous post I would siuggest cutting off a tiny bit each week if you aren't confident O0

Don't feel bad you're a good piggy mum, bad ones don't take the time to even cut their nails!
Vets do even make mistakes like that.
My first ever pig i got i got from a farm and he had mites, i took him to the vets where he tried giving him an injection. He pintched the neck and inserted the needle. It went in the skin and out the other side and squirted the treatment all over the table. My pig gave out such a squeel i could have punched the vet.The vet did appologise, i was horrified. He then tried again.
I took my pig home and the following morning i awoke to one dead pig! I cried for days i was only 9 and didn't know how to deal with death.
There was hell on between the vets and my parents.
So don't feel bad. O0

Smartie was in his run all day but now he gone back in his hutch after i done his nails as i didn't wnat any dirt on his foot. i am going to make sure its ok in the morning as i don't want to mess with it as it might make him feel worst i just want it to heal up.

I think it was one of those things, i feel better now i have heard other owners went through what we have today.

But i know cucumber works a treat ;D

Awww don't worry Shelley, I'm sure your a great piggie mum! It's not that easy to trim piggie nails, especially if you have a wriggly guinea.

OMG I was horrified when I saw that! It makes me so angry when vets think they know it all and then look! He killed a piggie! :'(
 
I always feel like that!

I dropped my guinea Patchy and wacked my leg on him! Toby ran out of my hands and a china *not too heavy* doll fell on him. and i've done many more things and I always end up :'( saying that they should go to a better home. Dont worry, tey still love you!
