One of my piggies Pooh didn’t eat a lot yesterday, but this morning he hadn’t moved since last night, not eaten or drunk – he also collapsed into the food bowl trying to eat something. I was in a right state, crying so I rushed him round to the vets first thing this morning before I went to work – I asked if he could stay at the vets today to get some fluids into him and keep an eye on him as I had to get to work. They not long rung me to let me know he didn’t make it. They gave him fluids and tried to get him to eat, but he just couldn’t do it. They think he had a chest infection.I am totally gutted and was crying my eyes out in work. I had a bad spell last February / March with losing animals, but I hope to god this isn’t going to be another bad year.OH is going to pick up Pooh and pay the £70 bill, so I can bury him out the back.RIP little man.Love your mummy and cage buddy Winnie and the rest of the gangxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Aw hon, so sorry for your lose it's horrible when our wee friends decide to leave us. Adleast he will Know you loved him dearly and he had a good life. Sleep well little one!

aah that is terrible news! RIP Pooh, hope winnie and you are ok Big Hugs!

Hun I'm so sorry for your loss... A chest infection is very common in piggies and they are usually given a 50/50 chance x RIP Pooh x

I am so sorry for your loss - sadly piggies with chest infections/bad URI can go downhill within hours and there is only so much you can do - and you did all you could!

BIG HUG

I hope that Winnie is OK?

sorry for you lose you did everything you could
run free Pooh
sending you & winnie a big hug xx

So sorry to hear about your loss. RIP Pooh.

It reminds me of what happened just over 4 years ago when my Will got a very nasty chest infection that came on very suddenly. He went down hill in a matter of hours and passed away on the trip to the vets. I was just stunned by the suddenness of it all.

Take good care.

Rest In Peace Pooh I think my pigs died the same way as your's....so sad

I am in work, but I am hoping Winnie will be ok on his own. They never used to lie right next together, but I am sure he will miss him. He’s probably in his cage wondering where Pooh is right now. Chest infections are a horrible thing. He was fine Saturday , not showing any signs of not being ill or anything, so to suddenly go down hill and not recover is horrible and very upsetting. That’s 4 males I have living separately now, as the others hate males and from having past males chopped I wont be doing that again, so I shall se how Winnie is on his own.

I'm so sorry you lost Pooh:(,It sounds as though there was nothing more you could do as it hit so fast, you did what any caring owner would and I'm sure Pooh appreciated your love and care, many hugs for you and Winnie x

I'm sorry to hear about Pooh I know exactly how you are feeling having gone through this last week with my little Alex.

You did everything you could and I'm sure that Pooh's life was full of love and affection.

Big hugs to you and Winnie

AWWW - he was such a beautiful boy! x)x)x)

BIG HUG

How sad for Pooh to go downhill so quickly :(
Sleep Well Pooh
I hope Winnie is not too upset, although I'm sure he will miss Pooh.
Thinking of you all
xx

The most likely cause of death, from your description, was heart failure.

So sorry to hear that, at least it was fairly quick and he probably wasn't in pain.
A similar thing happened with one of my rabbits, unfortunately they go down-hill very quickly. But you did the right things getting him to the vets, sometimes they are too far gone for us to save them.
Hope your ok x

so sorry to hear about your piggie Pooh
