So I don't really like to buy pets from Petco but I just fell in love with a piggie there. She is a HUGE pitch black sow with a cowlic on the top of her head... Very cute :D
She's very mellow, sweet, and fat! On the other hand...Petco makes me sooo angry! I hate the way they keep there critters. The poor piggies all cooped up in a small tank with no room to run and play :( Don't even get me started on the Ferrets >:( Anyway "big mama" is very happy in her new home :) I will post picks soon! Any name ideas?

Beauty? (as in 'black beauty' the horse story).

Congrats, she's sounds like a beauty hehe

Oh she sounds just beautiful :smitten: :smitten:
Pet stores are very depressing places unfortunately most of the staff don't know anything about exotics >:(
Is 'Big Mama' pregnant?
Great name Clover kins :)

She shouldn't be pregnant as she has been at Petco for awhile and has only been in with other females. I just think she's a hefty girl :) I agree the staff knows NOTHING! I have owned chinchillas, and ferrets, I currently own piggies, a hedgehog and, 5 snakes and I know more about those animals then anyone working at my local Petco. It's so frustrating!

Let's hope the others were definitely girls ;)

How does your guinea and snake like each others smell? When i was at the vet a few weeks ago with Duke, the nurse had to wash her hands as she went from handling Duke to a snake and even then she said the snake's tongue immediately flicked out after catching Duke's scent :o
Just wondering how you deal with it?

lol... when i first got cindy she was from a pet shop and kept with two males! :tickedoff:
So she is pregnant now... But I'm lucky because at least my petshop knows how to sex them properly... lol
I think black beauty is an awesome name lol.....

bye xx

Well I have always had fuzzy critters and snakes and have never been bitten. I just make sure to wash my hands before handling the snakes. I have even a couple of times (without thinking about it) held my snakes after holding my guinea pigs or mice and they didn't even seem to notice the sent...However, my snakes eat regularly and are very tame so that may make a difference.

*shudders* I could NEVER have a reptile as a pet. They don't love you back and they're not cute (in my opinion). I just couldn't do it. She does sound gorgeous though, and I can't wait to see some pix. As far as the name goes, I quite like Beauty, or Big Mama ;D

I love my snakes. True they don't really "love you back" but they can be sweet! Sometimes they will curl up and sleep on my lap for hours :smitten:

How could you not love this face :)
This is Sherman one of my Ball Pythons...

Well of course all of our snakes are non-venomouse :)

I was noticing that "Big Mama" or "Beauty" really needs her nails clipped. However they are pitch black! I'm afraid I'm going to clip the quick! Any advice?

just clip a little bit off the end... Cindy and another pig i had both have black nails and the vet told me to do that lol...

big mamma is great name ;D

and your snakes are beautiful :smitten:

my black sows have been called beauty magic Raven bubble and squeek and ebony , cant wait for pics as for your snakes we get them in the garden here and adders in the sand dunes hubby once jumped a 5ft fence in one leap when he found one when cleaning out his pond the neighbours were creased up laughing that was not long after we moved over here and as for the size of the toads wow look like steroid abuse toads to me hughhhhhhhhhh

With black nails i tend just to clip off the smallest amount. But i still managed to make Nutmegs bleed last time. But she got me back by chewing a hole in my top. ;D

LOL I wish I could have seen that! I love the name Ebony!

I have never really been afraid of snakes...I don't really know why most people are. I have been around snakes all of my life and have never been bitten.

I guess its just the seriotype of snakes being scary? Also the fact that most of them can bite and kill you might have somthing to do with it? ;D lol joking :) :)

haha mi piggyz are fat well 1 of dem is coz that 1 (lilly) hogs all da food and leaves da oda 1 to starve!:( >:Dlol

Then maybe you could feed separately to ensure the less dominant one isn't going hungry?
