I have just been thoroughly mocked by my family because I can tell
all of my (11) piggies apart by the noises they make. I can't be the only person who knows the voices of their pigs- mine are all very differently pitched and have distinctive patterns of sound they make.
Can anyone else do this? I'm just after confirmation that if I am crazy cavy lady, at least I'm not alone!

I can do it too!

I was listening to one the other night and I was thinking. Oh Matthew.
Sakurai is easy to tell as she's soft and high pitched but I can still tell the boys apart too. =)

How interesting. I'm deaf in one ear so can't locate where the noises are coming from . They all get the blame for making such a noise.

I can definitely tell mine apart. Like people they all have different voices. Alvin sounds like somebody trying to learn to whistle on the fist part off his wheek and then loud whistling on the last part. Simon has a very loud perfect week and garfuncle hardly wheeks at all besides sometimes a quiet muffled wheek.

my fudge has a loud demanding wheek, whereas Elvis and Dougie are high pitched and sing out for supper type wheek. Snowball and toffee make very little wheep wheeps, deep pitched . S yep I guess I am a mad cavy lady to :lol!:

You are definitely not alone. I can easily identify each of my 4 piggies by their voices. Just like when my twins were babies I could tell them apart when they cried.

I can too. I also know which ones having a drink 1 super noisy 1 stops half way though the third one is quieter and doesn't stop.

If you had triplets you would be able to tell which one was crying - piggies are just like human babies in that way .

I use to be able to tell between my two girls, now its just Amber but I swear sometimes she sounds just like Trixie, sometimes i have to physically go and look just to make sure. Amber's got a soft but a bit rusty.

lol no you are not alone, i only have two- but i can tell them apart from one end of the house to the other. i think thats so sweet  xx

I understand you! My family mocks me for talking to my piggies, and my ability to tell which one of them is wheeking. Still, I only have two.

Well, Sherlock Holmes was an expert on cigar ash deposits, you with guinea pig noises, never know when it might come in handy :)

Pansy has a raspy squeak, Primrose is really loud and Peter is in the middle.

You could have been on You Bet with the challenge of identifying all your piggies.

Absolutely I can tell them apart! First of all, Gus is solo in my room so he is easy peasy to know; secondly, Lovie squeals like a well oiled fire siren even if Moca so much as LOOKS at her funny, and Moca (while I love her so) is kind of a brute and is dominant in her wheeks and squeaks towards Lovie. If I give BOTH the girls the EXACT SAME TREAT, Moca is ABSOLUTELY CONVINCED that her sisters is CLEARLY better & come hell or high water, she WILL be having those treats instead of her own. Weasel!
