Hello oh wise ones. I'm still relatively new to the Piggy world. My lovely Harry wees . . A ....lot ! I bought the hemp roll that says it can last a week per use ! No chance, I need to change it every day .
He uses a small litter tray , should I get a deeper plastic box for him , would this help ? Should I buy pee pads ? Is it normal that he wees so much in his tray ?

Just for info , he's free all day in the room and only uses his cage for his tray and to sleep

Any advice well received. X

Yes this is all very normal. Wet areas will need to be removed and hay/bedding changed every day. A deeper box won’t change much at all - wet areas will still need to be removed every day.

What type of absorbent layer you put in his hay tray is up to you and what works best for you - some use disposable or washable puppy pads and then put hay on top. Others like myself (although I don’t use any kind of tray, I just put bedding and hay everywhere in the entire cage) use a disposable wood shavings type bedding and then top with hay.
Sometimes people find that as long as fresh hay is thrown on top every day then the absorbent layer may go two days before needing to be changed but I certainly wouldn’t expect anything to last longer than that
