I did a thing! Meet Lily

She was posted on Facebook needing a new home. She was with another girl and they had fallen out and the owner separated them and was looking for separate homes.

The previous owner I feel was well meaning but unfortunately their set up was far too small. They said they rescued her from someone else who wasn’t caring for them well around a month ago. They had some previous fall outs and then then another bad one so split them.

Her claws were extremely long so they have all been trimmed. Other than that she seems ok bless her. They think she is around 2.

Oh my Lilly is the most amazing colour? Is she a lilac, although more grey/ silver really?

Yes she’s lilac. With a patch of ginger and white in her crest!
❤️

Well I have broken the rules and she’s not had a full quarantine. I just don’t have a separate room or air space to keep her in so even with the best intentions I’d accidentally cross contaminate.
Also she was a bit timid so thought I’d give bonding a go and just accept the risk.

But it was a success! It’s early days but all very positive. Frankie is very overexcited and chasing her but it’s already calmed down a lot.
The girls have accepted her well, I think Ruffles likes her a lot, when bonding and Frankie was getting a bit too much she actually stepped between them and told him to back off. I see Lily and Ruff together a lot so that’s sweet because Ruff spends a lot of time in her own space.

Don’t really have a lot of photos as been trying to not overcrowd them all. Will try and rectify that!

Lily is very sweet. She is more confident in the cage than I expected and is openly croissant-ing 🥐 all over and I got to witness her excitedly doing fast zoomies all around the cage whilst I was sitting quietly in my chair watching them. ❤️

Thanks! It’s always nerve wracking. I’ll be keeping a close eye and a simple cage for a while but it seems positive so hoping it continues. I wasn’t sure I’d get another piggy after Ginny, but I think Lily is just the right medicine.

I suspect she’s younger than 2 as her nails were pin prick sharp like they have never been cut before and were very ‘new’ and thin, unlike my other pigs. I’m giving her an estimate of 1 year 3 months and a pretend birthday of 24/12/21! 😂

I've broken those rules, too ... My previous girls were set up in side-by side cages pretty much immediately because one was crying (there was a gender issue with her original pair (long story) but fortunately nothing came of it). They were supposed to wait a extra day until I had longer to watch them for bonding, but they didn't make it that long ... they kept sitting in the closest corners and peering over at each other, so we put them in the bathtub for bonding, and they were bonded ever after.

Latte went straight into Lexa's room, too, though they live side by side. Lexa was just so sad after her previous roommate passed (left her as our only pig). She came right back out of her shell once Latte moved into the room. (They have very different cage preferences ... Lexa would like to sleep on top of her bendy bridge/throne and keep the fleece flat; Latte prefers her cage to look like an unmade bed and thinks bendy bridges belong any direction but tunnel formation, cradle is her favorite.)

Ah that’s so lovely - beautiful piggies and lovely home for them 🥰

Awww, she's beautiful! What a lovely colour!
