Last October time I had a shock that one of the 3 boys which I rescued turned out to be a girl and I had a surprise litter.

I took them to the vet for a check and had them sexed. About 3 weeks later I took them back to be double checked just in case!

I spilt the boys to live with Dad and the little girl to live with Mum.

Turns out little girl is A big boy we have 6 new Guinea Pigs!

I don't know where to start I now have 16 I can't cope! I won't just let them go to people I don't know but I can't afford to keep them as I also have 4 house rabbits.

I wouldn't mind if I hadn't had them checked but 2 different vets for goodness sake what do I do!

Oh my goodness! Can you not advertise them and vet all the potential new owners?

I know I'm probably coming across as a bit of a drama queen but I hate to think that they could end up left in hutch somewhere cold damp and lonely. I just wish that I could persuade my friends to take them that way I could be sure they are well looked after.

Maybe someone on here will kno someone local who'd look after them properly... I'd be exactly the same I think I'd have to interview everyone & make them fill in application forms!

Goodness, that's a shock and a half. Bad that the vet's got it wrong.

Here is the link for cavy spirit to help sex the new babies. If you're not sure, then someone on here might be able to help.

Hope you can find some great new homes. :)

Excellent link thank you!

I did try to sex them myself quite a few time because I was worried just in case it was wrong but found them very wriggly so left it to the professionals :))

I think I would also have to add a clause that they had to return them if they lost interest and that I could do spot checks! :))

Hi there,

Crikey, you should be bloomin sueing these vets that's unbelievable!

There's a guinea pig rescue in Bournemouth that you could get in touch with who may be able to help http://www.theguineapigranch.co.uk/

Hope you manage to sex these babies ok, if you can get photos of them all we should be able to help. It's a fun game to us xx>>>

Hope you manage to get sorted xx

Oh what a shame the vets messed up .... twice ..... you really did your best.
I was in a similar but on a smaller scale when I got 2 girl piggys ....1 was already pregnant and I didnt realise until 2 days before she gave birth ! rolleyes
I was lucky though cos she had 3 girls and I just expanded my cage and kept them but, like you, I was worried, if they werent all girls who could I trust with them .....
Best of luck finding suitable homes - I did get 2 offers from friends at work for mine (which I obviously turned down) .... maybe someone you know - friend/ family/ work colleague might be interested ?
x
