my guinea pig bob is comeing up 5 in a month or so and i dont know whether its old age or shes generally poorly :(
she sits quite happily on my lap but gets distressed when i move her but then settles quickly, but shes grindin her teeth now an i might of heard wrong but i think its a sign shes in pain
id take her to the vets but i dont know if thats enough for a vet to be able to diagnose something other than old age

any advice?

Greetings.
It could be, as you say, old age, 5 years is a good age for a pig. It maybe arthritic joints. Is she eating well, how is she "in herself"?

yeah shes eating fine and still running round in the run shes just slowed down a little bit I'm just worried when she gets distressed when i move her but other than that she seems fine so i dont know
might just be me being a paranoid owner

If you fell gently, has she got a sore point that she doesn't want to have touched?

I gave my Dizzy a drop of metacam a day when bending over to pick up her poos got painful because of her arthritis.

I had a little poke around and there wasnt a certain spot it was really just when i moved her off my shoulder onto my chest
is it possible for them to just be fussy about how you hold them? :S

Yes, they can be fussy, especially those that are more active, you may get bitten!

shes never bitten anyone before so i doubt she would. ill just keep an eye on her an see if she ets any worse- which i hope she doesnt

ok ive been reading some threads about how sawdust can affect piggies and last night i heard bob sneeze so i went out to tesco an brought her some fleeces to experiement with a new flooring to see if it helps :)
but i have to say her cage looks very comfy :)

just need to get her some more bits for the cage now :) would a litter tray help?

The only worthwhile answer is try it and see what the response is!

ok just thought id let you know that bobs doing alot better now =] shes back to her old self again thankfully =]

:) thankyou, i think it was her bedding because now ive changed it after reading some threads shes fine :D infact shes suddenly got very vocal i think shes making up for the times she was being quiet lol
