Jedward keeps biting me, and when I don't let her she still tries.

I read somewhere you should blow in their face if they do it but then she just bites me again.

So... I don't know what to do. I don't think she likes me. 8...

try saying no very firmly and then put her back n her hutch/cage dont talk to her dont make a fuss of her just make sure she has food and water she'll soon learn that mommy doesnt lke being bitten or nibbled

So far that's had the same reaction as the blowing but I'll keep trying.

She seems to be okay with me until playtime, then she starts biting.

are you washing your hands before playtime?

Yes but I tend to put the new fruit or veg she's trying in front of her when she plays so she gets a good sniff. She shows no interest in biting into that either. lol Not until she's on her own in her cage with it anyway...

How old is she?

I have about 4 baby pigs (6-16 weeks) that will happily munch away on my hands/arms and it blooming hurts!

Mind you Bentley & Ruby often give a very sharp nip when they are on their way back to their cage, I know they only want down but that really hurts with them being grown adults!

All I can suggest is to pop her into a "time out box" so she doesnt get the idea that biting gets her back into her cage, after 30 seconds pick her up and continue to cuddle her.

I hope it stops and I sympathise! x

I think she's about 8 weeks old.

I'm not sure what I'd use for a time out box. :{

Sounds about normal, CJ drew blood on me when he was 4 weeks! rolleyes

The box was just an idea, try anything that isn't going to be "fun" for her, somewhere quiet and with nothing in she should learn her lesson soon.

Logan does this to me...[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwY5yJlv0_k[/ame] half of the time he nibbles the other half he licks he is only 4 weeks in this video!

I have noticed now Logan is 7 weeks he is getting more and more nippy by the day, Pigglet (13 weeks) is slowly stopping the whole nipping thing! xx>>>

If it's the age thing, why would she only munch on me though and not my mum as well? rolleyes

Umm very good point...maybe you taste nicer?:(|)

It might purely be down to feeding, if she recognises that you feed her or even have a slight smell of food it might be her connection.

When you hold her where is she biting you?

Oh please persevere, she will grow to love you :)

Our first piggie was a nipper, we bought her with another but every time I handled her she bit me & OH, I think it was just her playfulness, & maybe she was slightly nervous of us. I also think we weren't as experienced then at handling piggies. However this particular piggie grew up to love sitting on our laps in the evenings watching TV & purring with contentment x)

I learnt with the next 2 babies we had, to make sure I held them properly, not putting my fingers anywhere near their chins lol! Also make sure you are keeping her calm, if you are having to chase her to catch her each time, she will be scared of you a little bit maybe? Try to restrict her run so that you only have a small space where you can sit with her & let her come to you on her terms (with a little bit of grass or some veggies) it pays to it quietly with them & gain their trust gradually.

It's my fingers and hand.

I would never give her away if that's what you're worried about. I'll keep trying, I just don't know what to do to stop her. XD

I'll squeek and cry away from her so she doesn't see that she's upsetting me and just try to be firm with her!

My oldest piggie Winston still nibbles me, sometime he will try and bite me but that tends to be when he is in a strop! Don't worry i wouldn't blow on her, she's just testing the waters...

I never had a 'nipper' until Champagne arrived. He's a complete drama Queen and will nip at any opportunity. He is turning 3 this year and the nipping has toned down, but I have my strategic ways of holding him because the little used to nip my hand if it was near his face when I was carrying him somewhere lol I just keep my hands out of the way of his face, place him so he doesn't have the chance to nip and I hold him in a way that means he can't nip me.

Lol I must admit I nearly took ours back, I even rang the shop we got her from & told them she was so viscous :)) I can look back & laugh at it now though.

Try to be much slower in your movements with her, put down a cuddle thing or a small box for her to run into, then lift her gently with that to lessen the amount of times you are picking her up, then place her on your lap for some gentle stroking whilst giving her a little bit of cucumber. She will be your great friend soon honest! They nip less & less as they grow up, much like puppies etc!

Do you know of a good way to hold her while I carry her places without getting bitten. She squirms sometimes to nip me and it's hard to keep hold of her, which makes me worry I'll drop her. 8...

How long does testing the waters normally last, do you know? :...

I'm very patient when it comes to animals. Not much else, but animals, yes. I just worry while I'm away from them so they can't sense it. XD

I just wish she'd stop it, it makes it really hard for me to tell if she's scared, angry, or just plain doesn't like me.

When you hold her, make sure you have one hand supporting her bottom, & hold the other hand under her front legs, around her tummy, so her paws are resting on your fingers. She will soon learn that you aren't edible, don't worry! My old girlie used to sit & lick my arms & give me a wash :)

I have had Winston for 2 months now and he hates being held period he will tolerate it for so long. He once bit me on the wrist whist i was holding him. It depends on the piggie really, Winston is very stroppy. My Piggie who sadly passed away(my avatar) never once bit me. I think you just have to make sure your hands don't smell of food either or else they will want to munch!

I try to do that but she seems to be able to wriggle round enough to still nibble.

All the soaps in my house are fruit scented. D= lol

Alan and Barry never nibbled me; not once but since getting Oscar (he is 14weeks) he nibbles during lap time. But I think it's because he is playful and although appearing confident, is actually still a little nervous!

Keep with it, I'm hoping mine will grow out of it!

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed she stops soon. @)

I hold Champagne on my chest, with a hand under his bum and one on his back to keep him secure. I relatively firm grip but not too tight. He doesn't nip my chest but I have a shirt on anyway, so if he did he would get that.

Astral Heart that is one cute piggie on the left of your avatar x)

He is called Mouse and is one of my older piggies. He is an Abyssinian x, a friendly boy and has a very laid back nature. :) The one on the right of the picture is called Cheesecake, he is younger by a few years and is a pain in the ass lol

Jeddy's a bit of a wriggle, when I try to put her on my chest she squirms. :{
