Hello, I’m new here and just wanted to share to you about my guinea pig’s unexpected death.
My guinea pig, Winter, was only 2 months old when we got her. She was very quiet and never once squeaked. She only made soft clicking sounds. I know guinea pigs tend to chatter their teeth but it didn’t sound anything like it. It was much more quieter and constant. She’d also occasionally do slight twitches at random which was pretty concerning as well. Last night I took Winter out of her cage to roam but she barley walked around. She wouldn’t eat her vegetables either which made me sort of worried so I decided to let her be in her cage to prevent any additional stress. She died the next morning on Thanksgiving day which breaks my heart. I'm not sure what I could’ve done to see her end up this way. I made sure she had all her vitamins, food/veggies/hay daily, and playtime. She was very active and healthy the day before which puts me into shock. I’ve only had her for a months and a half but she meant a lot to me. Any opinions of what might of happened to her is very much appreciated

Hello and welcome. I’m just sorry it’s under such sad circumstances :(

Sadly; guinea pigs can die from heart attacks and strokes at any age and any time. The fact you say Winter was making clicking sounds and twitching points to a respiratory or heart problem. Sadly, the only way of finding out for sure of by having a vet do an expensive post mortem on Winter that can be upsetting and and stressful for the owner :(

I’m very sorry for your loss. Please feel free to post a tribute in our Rainbow Bridge section.
