i dropped gizmo :(

i dropped him from like shoulder height to the floor he landed in a box (plastic with a bag of hay) he didnt make a noise at all just was so still, when i picked him up he didnt run or anything just so quiet , i got him a vet appointment todat after school at 4pm and i am also gettin the others check too, i feel so terrible, the vet said he will fill over and to take him back if showing signs of illness, what should i look for let me know, and i am so sorry
what made me mad dad said its just a guinea pig and that they are disposable pets which they are not! i nearly cried on the phone for everyone at his work laughed at me

That's awful what you dad and his mates think about piggies...

I hope Gizmo is okay. After a shock guinea pigs will freeze and stay still for a while. I've had a couple of accidents (although never from that high...) and the piggies always freeze and it's rather scary. It's good to get him checked out as he may have hurt himself. Piggies can hide pain quite well so it's not always easy to notice something wrong just by looking at them

Fingers crossed that he's okay and hasn't been hurt!

aww hun I know how terrifying it is, I had something similar with bumble and she landed on the patio Thankfully she was ok and only suffered some grazing and a broken tooth. Some metacam and a week or two later she was perfectly fine. Is your piggy walking, eating, drinking, peeing and pooing alright? these would be the first signs of something being wrong. I remember syringing bumble water to make her wee just so I could see that she was as well as she could be

Don't worry Megan, I have this all the time: folks at work are thinking that I'm mad to pay 200-300 pounds for vet bills (unfortunately it run to that amount as I had an expensive vet = with not much information about guineas, S*** happened). "you can get new one for fiver" is a bit sad, but people are stupid and there is nothing you can do about it, only think you can do about is NOT to be like them.

Your dad is just a human being with his own problems and he don't want to have a more problems... and people laugh at things they don't understand. It's the way of defending themselves, theirs lack of knowledge or simple small capacity of A Brain. Apparently, we are not the ones with the biggest ;-)

PS. I do not want to offend anyone, it's only my small opinion. I hope you little one will be OK. No, it will.

Don't feel bad, I too have dropped one of my guinea pigs in the past, he was also absolutely fine. Nice you're going to have him checked out, at least he had a soft landing and hopefully will be fine.
