I'm a bad mummy.

I have decided to take my piggies in from their large piggy palace outside (it was split into four but since I have lost my other two its now split in half MEGA BIG PIG CAGE) to their indoor cage and hutch which are considerably smaller.

They are much harder to clean when they are outside. I spend nearly an hour bent over, and as I have back problems already, it doesn't do me any favors. I feel I don't pamper them enough when they are outside. They don't get handled alot, somethings gotta give!

I'm being cruel to be kind I guess. I'm taking away their big cage with lots of room to run around, but in return they will get extra cuddles and a super clean cage. Also when they are indoors they get treats cos when I walk by they squeak :smitten:

Am I doing the wrong thing?
:(

No course not, dont be silly. What you have done is for the best. Could you not sell the out door hutch/s and also the indoor ones and get them new, bigger indoor ones then you wouldnt feel so bad? How manny piggies do you have and how many in a group?

Don't feel bad, i think you are doing the right thing. :) I'm sure they will much prefer being indoors out of the unpredictable weather conditions. How big is the indoor cage? As Tom_Cat said could you not sell the other hutch & get them a larger indoor? They will get more attention from you & your family & the treats too ;)

I know`how you feel I wish I could have all mine indoors especially as the weather is rubbish! I think you are doing the best thing for all of you!

How about letting them out for a run round each day in a guinea friendly area? Kind of a compromise. I wouldn't worry about bringing them in - especially in this weather - I know where I'd rather be!

You may feel bad but i bet your piggies don't. Okay their cage may be smaller but they are getting to spend more time with you getting extra cuddles and being spoilt rotten. It may be worth having a look at the local classified ads as you may be able to pick up a larger cage quite cheap.

Well the mega cages are in a brick shed. They have most of the floor space split between them and there is a heater in there. So there isn't really a hutch to sell.

I have one lone boar and a pair of bonded sows. I will house the boar in a hutch and the girlies in an indoor cage on top of the hutch until I can get better cages :smitten:

If I have them indoors I can make a safe play area for floortime on my bedroom floor.

Thanks for reassuring me that I'm doing the right thing. My room will be a bit of a zoo now! As I have 2 hamsters, 2 budgies, 2 african snails and soon to be 3 guineas! :smitten:

I think I would like either a couple of nero 4's or a nero 3 and a nero 4. O0 :smitten:

you are definately doing the right thing for your piggies, and you have to think of yourself as well .. I know exactly how you feel, I suffer from severe arthritis, so cleaning all my cages is a major prob .. and I hate cage cleaning anyway lol
But i'm sure your piggies love you for the move and don't mind having less space, and i'm sure they appreciate the extra treats more :D

don't worry. as others have said, could you sell the outdoor one and get a bigger indoor one. if not, i'd definitely second letting them run around. they will get more of your love anyway when they are indoors. i find cleaning hard too as i have ME, so don't worry we know how you feel and it's not mean cos if you hurt yourself seriously, you might not be able to look after them at all! :) :)

Thanks guys =] I feel alot better about the whole thing. I just need a couple of decent indoor cages nowwww :smitten:

Deffinitely ot a bad idea. I have mine outside but I'd much rather they were inside.

Just think that you'll be able to keep an eye on them if they get hurt or sick and they will get the love and attention they need.

I couldn't agree more, they may have a bit more space outside, but with sufficient floor time they will have much better care and attention inside. You will probably find your bond may even be stronger with them in with you and you can hear them wheek whenever you open the fridge or rustle a packet :smitten:

I agonised over whether or not to bring Tiger inside, but I am glad I did, I think they are better inside, especially in all this awful weather!

I know what you mean about the weather...I keep bringing mine inside because they are scared

aww.

Its brightened up here . We have had two full days of sun, not sure how long it will last though :tickedoff: .
My piggies are now indoors and are very happy. My girls are squabbleing a bit, probably cos they arn't used to sharing a restricted space :(
