I've just booked William in for neutering, and they can fit him in on Monday!

I've never sent any of my babies for neutering and I'm a bit scared. I feel terrible how can I look at him this weekend, knowing that he'll be less of a man after Monday.

Oh I feel so mean now, but things didn't work out with Spike for him, so the plan is to maybe get him a lady friend when he's safe. My older pair of girls will probably eat him for breakfast if I tried him with them, but him being done gives me more options rather than keep him as an only pig.

OMG I can't believe I've organised it, I was only at the thinking stage when I rang the vet up.

aww he will be fine, and he will still be a lad! Try not to worry, just think of the fun he will have with lady friends x

Aw bless. he will be fine I am sure. And yes I agree being with the ladies will def make up for it.... x

he will be fine my 3 boars are neutered and live with lady friends and ive aso had around 10 rescue boars neutered and all of them were fine..

once he has had the op i tend to keep them on vet bed or towels for around 10 days before i change back to shavings, and i just keep a check on the op site every day, he will look swollen at first but after 3 days the swelling will go down...sometimes there isnt even any swelling...

it will be sooo worth t watching him with his ladies, and watching him popcorn for hours after he is in with them...

BIG HUG

You haven't made your decision lightly and you have done so to give William the happiest of boar lives.

Try not to worry yourself too much! I know its easy said than done, but he will be fine I'm sure, you have done the right thing and just think how happy he will be with his new wife when the time comes.

Just have his favourite veg ready to greet him when he comes home and lots of cuddles. :) x x

Best of luck to William xx

Boris says that it feels a bit funny at first but it well worth it when you get to live with lovely ladies (even if they do try to steal all the parsley!)

Oh good luck I'm sure all will go well.
Heres a tip to help aid healing and to try and stop infection. boil water in the kettel and let it cool when its warm to the touch add some salt to it (medium sized mug add about 1-2 tablespoons of salt) and using cotton wool soak it in the water and wipe his wounds, but dont put that cotton wool back in the water throw it away and use a clean piece. Its old fashioned but really works as salt is a natural steraliser. It wont hurt him in anyway and will just help to avoid infections and help healing

Well he's been dropped off, bless him. All my piggies have gone really quiet, and his ex cagemate Spike looks so sad, it's really strange. They had to be seperated when William decided to try taking the upper hand. The vet will ring me at lunchtime, then hopefully he'll be ready to collect at 4.

I'm a bit more relaxed than I thought I would be, I've changed vets and after meeting the nurse and the vet this morning I'm really pleased I did. The nurse assured me she will stay with him the complete time he's out, and won't leave him until he's eaten something. They've done a lot of neuters so I'm feeling a bit better about it all than i would of been if I'd stayed at my previous vets.
