I feel mean

Since being ill I haven't been able to clean out the guinea pigs. It's been a little while and I keep telling myself I should do it but I know brushing off all the hair and leaning over the cage will just ruin me. I mean when I am not ill leaning over the cage will still make me feel a bit worn out and stuff.

I have been able to do their litter tray easily enough but their fleece just keeps getting worse and worse :( I try to spot clean as much as I can but all the hair gets into my throat and I just start coughing like mad...


What could I do?
 
I have an allergy filter mask, not one of those little cheap filter masks, but a nice HEPA allergen filter mask, it was only about 10 dollars from an online allergy supply company. It makes a huge difference if I wear it to rake leaves or clean the piggie cage. Maybe you can get one for the future.

In the mean time, maybe you can just layer another layer of towels and another fleece over the soiled ones, maybe with some baking powder under the towels to neutralize the smell a little and give them a clean top layer.

But of course, the best thing would be for us to all send you some positive energy vibes so you can muster up the energy and stamina for the clean out.

I managed to do it! It was on one of my better feeling days so managed to sit down and do it little by little. I put a scarf around my head to stop me chocking on hairs etc.

My mum wouldn't clean them out for me and my boyfriend wouldn't either, although he has moved to Bristol now. It is all up to me.
 
Could you switch them to newspaper and hay just while you're poorly?
Might be easier to just roll it up and throw out rather than brushing off the fleece.

Oh dear ;( maybe you live close to another forum member who woul do it for you if you needed it again?
