When i fed the girls this morning, i was mortified to discover I had forgot to bolt the piggies hutch last night. One push of the door and my girls could have escaped :... They couldn't have got out of the yard but something dreadful could have happened :(

Things happen. I doubt that it is something you'll forget again! ;)

But it didn't so don't worry, and it will now be something that always sticks in your mind, so it will never happen.

I once did this and left the side door open on our cage overnight, all piggies present and correct in the morning. xx

Pheewww. I'm glad they're ok. We all forget these sorts of things from time to time so don't feel guilty. If anything, as Wiebke says, it will help you not to forget in the future so the glass is definitely half-full in this case :)

You know, if it makes you feel better, once I was washing their bottles out. I'd washed them, rinsed them and filled them ready to go on their cages. This was about 11.00am. The phone rang, I answered. Then totally forgot to put their water on their cages until I went into the ktchen to make dinner at 3.30pm. 4 1/2 hours with no water.

Bad bad piggy dad.

It happened with our outdoor Piggys once-I discovered the door wasn't bolted the next morning and they could have fell out so easily. :(

Don't feel bad about it, mistakes happen and we never let it happen again.

This happened to me the day after we moved in but it was an intruder that opened then left the girls hutch door WIDE open! :o
They could of so easily fallen out or be taken by a cat but as it happens Daisy was lying in the bedroom part and Lily was quite happily sunning herself and having a snooze a few centimetres away from the edge!

Needless to say we went out and bought a second bolt for the gate the next day! grrrr

Claire, what a fright it must've given you, but as others have said - the girls were fine, and it's something that will never happen again.

I forgot to give them any cosies and fleeces last night :( and this morning it is cold and throwing it down :( I only converted their hutch to the summer set up on Wednesday. Wish I hadn't have bothered :( poor girls would have been cold overnight!
