Adult Guinea Pig
For those of you that didn't see my thread about Munchie a while back, she has/had four abscesses. After two vets trips that did nothing for her and two courses of Baytril that similarly did nothing for her, I was advised to wait and monitor Munchie for a while rather than put her through the pain of having 4 abscesses removed or opened up at the same time. Munchie being Munchie however has decided that she doesn't want to 'wait and see' so the little devil has, over the last couple of weeks, opened up three of them herself.
The first one was the biggest and me, being a wuss, got my dad to do the nasty draining of gunk part and I did the cleaning. It healed up surprisingly well and the fur has almost fully grown back. Mummy and pig 1 - Abscesses 0. Now she's decided that two more were due to be open so I've once again had the delightful job of cleaning them out. I feel mean because each time I've done it the last couple of days she's screamed the house down... I swear I'm expecting a call from the RSPCA because a neighbour has heard her scream...
I feel so mean. I flush them both clean her up and then feel so bad that she's being put through this.
But she is so forgiving. She puts up with it, then is happy to give me cuddles and piggy kisses. She is a wonderfully tolerant and beautiful pig, I can't help but feel like the worst mum in the world. I'm just looking forwards to getting these two healed and the last one sorted out, then she doesn't have to go through this again!
