I always hold Dahlia and Iris before work. As usual, Iris sat with me for ten minutes before wanting to go back in the cage. Dahlia, however, was extra cuddly. She loves it when I put her on my lap and drape a blanket over her, but usually her bladder eventually gets the best of her and she's tugging at my clothes to indicate she wants to go back.

Over an hour passed and she was completely stretched out on me, nearly asleep, looking so happy. I unfortunately had to get going and the look of disappointment on her sweet little face nearly killed me. It hurt even worse when she stood up on her hind legs against the cage bars to better see me as I was leaving, like she was trying to get me to come back.

She's on my lap right now and I hope she's forgiven me. I'll let her lay there as long as she wants now.

Hi! My skinny pig Godfrey, spends at least 4 or 5 hours on my lap every evening ( often longer because he always falls asleep) but he still stands up at his bars and screams to come back out when I do eventually put him back! I always feel guilty too (sometimes I relent and do get him back out)!

Aww bless them. I don't have this problem but I know I'd be feeling extremely guilty too?

I can understand exactly how you feel but unfortunately my boys don't like lap time or cuddles, hope one day they will grow to like it.

I think guinea pigs know this and deliberately want long cuddles at annoying times. Archie likes to force me to cuddle him either just when I'm about to go to sleep, or in the morning after breakfast when i want to go back to sleep, or just before I have to go out anywhere. Guinea pigs, they are such cheeky little !
