I was petting Anna (aka Cinderella) and I found a hard lump behind her ear kind of at the back of her jaw. It’s a little bigger than a pea. I’m calling the vet first thing in the morning to make an appointment for her. She hasn’t lost any weight, so I guess that is good. It does seem to be tender because when I touch it, she flinches and shakes her head. She is my daughter’s favorite piggy, I can’t let anything happen to her! Any ideas on what I could be dealing with?

Could be a fatty lump. Betsy has a couple of those but they don't hurt her and they are movable a bit like a ganglion. Lets us know what the vet says.

Fingers crossed for Anna. It’s good that you’re having a vet check.

My Edward has a few fatty lumps but they were biopsied by my vet to find out what they were. Hopefully it will be the same for Anna xx

Without seeing and feeling it, our guesses are as valid as yours. :(
Good that you have it seen and hopefully dealt with promptly.

Hope everything is okay, I remember my old guinea pig Susie (when I was a child) had a lump on her back, ended up being an abscess and was easy enough to sort out

Well, it’s an abscess. Anna is booked for surgery on Monday. The vet asked if she could have been nipped by another pig, I did have to switch Tiana over to her side of the cage when I got Rapunzel and Belle a couple of weeks ago, so maybe it was Tiana. Tiana was bullying the new girls, but once I put her in the other side, Queen Elsa put her in her place!

Aww. Of course on a Friday! Hope all is well with your piggy too!
Thanks. She has a lump in her bladder wall. Was xrayed a few months back. Nothing can be done, too high risk for an operation, hoping it doesnt grow, i think il lose dot a bit too young but we will see. Il say no more about this, not my thread lol :mal:

I have a thread all about dot and this problem

I just got an estimate from the vet, these little piggies are getting expensive! They are lucky I love them so much!
