Ive just had a phone call from a lady asking if i had any guinea pigs in,she said she had 2 sows aged 2 yrs old and wanted another 2 guinea pigs to put with them,i went on to say that you could maybe put 2 baby sows with them but some guinea pigs dont always like new additions..

Well she went on to say NO I WANTED 2 MALES:o to put with them so they can breedgrrrr i said to the lady has your sows ever given birth before she said NO i went onto tell her about the likelihood of them giving birth naturally is low and told her about the poss problems if they got preg now,she was like ohh i will tell my hubby..she then said can we have 2 baby sows then i was like NO YOU CANT i have none inrolleyes..

She was like ohh ok,i said and if you get from a pet shop make sure you quarantine it first as it maybe incubating illness, she was like oh OK i went onto explain that i am a rescue so dont rehome to people breeding or agree with it..

it gets me so mad why people dont do there home work even if they are planing onto breed,as its obvious they were going to be future rescue guineas or even a death or her 2 sows as she hasn't any idea on what she is doinggrrrrgrrrr

I just get so mad, sometimes i think people look at rescues and think we are easy targets and will just hand over guinea pigs to anyone, well she sure got that one wronggrrrrgrrrrgrrrr

ahhhhh, people, who'd have 'them?

no honestly, the ignorance of folk, sometimes... grrrr grrrr grrrr

I am slowly learning (and certainly the last few weeks have been informative) that there really are so many people out there who don't have a total clue when it comes to animals. There's that stupid woman going away to breed her guinea pigs without ever obviously looked into it but just thought she'd get a male and hey presto, there would be babies - not thinking about consequences for health or otherwise.

not even thought of that... just pregnancies and complications galore

If she'd had a pregnant piggie she would never be thinking of breeding them. It's not easy for the mother at all, Cuddles had a straight forward pregnancy and birth but I still wouldn't want to put one through it purposely......stupid woman.

Wow, some people. You think she'd read a guinea pig book, or at least find out something about breeding them before deciding to do it.

Guinea pig pregnancies do seem really difficult :( and the risk of the sow dying seem so high.

I'm glad Sukie only had 2 babies and wasn't very fat and found her pregnancy easy enough (though one baby was stillborn).

Ah poor you, people are stupid sometimes I know. There are too many people out there who just don't give a poo about animals. I hope she doesn't do what she wanted to anyway and you did your bit and advised her best you could anyway. Blood people hey xx

I also just realised, why did she think she needed two males to breed from her females? That's just silly.

This is the first time I have owned Guinea's but i did my research :) I bought my book and did it all lol....my hubby took the micky out of me I was reading that much about them hehe :))

some people are clueless Claire.
I went into P@H the other day(don't know why I do it *** I always come out mad about something), there was a couple older than me discussing getting guinea pigs, some of the things they were coming out with made me wonder if they had any common sense. They were looking at a book and the man said 'wow look at the size of their balls!'. I just pray they do not get guineas!
Then there was a lady trying to drag her dog over to the rabbit enclosure to get the dog to look at the bunnies (the dog was having none of it luckily), I did say to her 'did she not think that the rabbits would be scared if a big dog was staring down at them', she just looked at me as if I was stupid and walked off.
Where are peoples brains?mallethead
