If you've read my earlier posts then you'll be aware that I'm nervous to handle my new piggies and so I've been slowly acclimatising them to me and I decided tonight was gonna be the night I attempted a lil cuddle..

So I managed it and am so chuffed - it wasn't for long as they were so scared. I coaxed them into a box and then put the box on my knee and picked them up with a blanky wrapped round them. I managed a couple minutes with each with them and checked the sex too (as I'd got them from a pet shop which is closing down - almost a rescue I feel - and realised from forum you can't trust their sexing) and I'm confident they are indeed all females :)

I'm so chuffed that I got a cuddle off each of them and a lil stroke - feels like a giant leap to me, I realise it's an everyday thing for most of you guys hehe

Yay!! I used to be the same exact way, so I know how thrilled you are! :(|) I used to be terrified of these little creatures! :red

So happy that you've gotten over the first hurdle and confirmed their sex! ;)

I'm gonna do the same each day and build up slowly, as long as they're scared in my arms then i'll keep it short and talk to them whilst holding them so they can see I'm not all that bad lol

I'm just so mega-chuffed - am still shaking about it now, I think I was very brave hehe

Awwwwww it sounds like you are doing a great job :) They will get less nervous each time. One of my piggies Peggy is still nervous and I have had her 8 months, she was from a rescue and was terrified when I got her - she actually enjoys being cuddled now but is so jumpy and I have to really hold on to her cos she is always desperate to get back in her house and run and will try to jump out of my hands. She hasn't done thankfully.
The box and blanket are a good idea.
When my girls have had enough of a cuddle they get jiffly and squeaky and it is usually because they need a wee and piggies don't like to wee on you. Have you any piccies of your piggies to show us ? :)

Excellent! That's lovely news for a coffee break at work! I'm really pleased for you, cuddling them takes time and patience but it is so much fun.

Good news!

Give them a little treat while they're with you, and they will like it. Praise them a lot for being with you.

If you are not afraid of a possible "accident", you can try and let them crawl under a wide pullover you're wearing, so they can get used to your smell. If they are content, you can feel them relaxing on oyur belly or chest and even going to sleep. Sometimes they can relax a bit too much and you have to be very gentle in waking them up, or you will frighten them...

Tattyruncy - I have pics on photo thread under My Piggies :)

Bullseye - Thanks a lot, it was such a massive deal to me lol

VickyT - No I;m not afraid of accidents, they're my babies and can get away with anything lol. I did have them up against my top ands placed a blanket in front of them in case they wanted to hide their head (I'm sure I've read this is a good thing to do)

Everyone else - thanks so much for understanding the importance of this lol I'm still so proud of myself - and my babies :)

Thanks Tattyruncy, I've fell head over heels for these lil girls and it's the first time I've ever had piggies and only had them 6 days.

They have my heart already x) x) x)

i did the same - piggies are lovely and glad you are getting to cuddle them
we all take it at our own pace and i found others on here seem to appreciate that

glad i could chip in
