So I was cleaning out the pigs home anyway and they were on the sofa, and Comet decided to settle himself down in someone's lap. And then stay there. And refuse to move. He was comfy, goshdarnit!

Meanwhile Blitzen somehow got some hay caught in a knot in the fur near his butt. Okay, he required a haircut. I think I could hear my heart trying to beat its way out of my chest, he's so wriggly. One wrong wriggle, and we'd have had an emergency on our hands. And paws. No he actually stayed put the entire time AND didn't whinge when I combed him. Progress?

Nah, a phone rang 20 seconds later and it was allllll back to normal in this household.

Apparently, B's doubled in size since they last saw him btw (I think that might be a sliiiiight exaggeration). Oh, and they adore parsnip. They don't like things I can feed them on a regular basis, nope. Just bell peppers, spinach, carrot, parsnip and apple. Anyone got any ideas? They will eat cucumber and courgette. Or pretend to eat it, anyway. It gets abandoned within two seconds.

Tell me about it! My girls have never liked carrot. Fine, fusspots, it's sugary so you shouldn't overdo it anyway but I've never met a guinea pig who doesn't like carrots. Got a veg skewer hangy thing and I didn't want to use my last pepper on it, so just to see the reception I put some carrot slices on it. OMG now carrot's the best food EVER and it's worth precariously balancing and contorting to get! Seems that food becomes tastier the more they've got to work for it, little weirdos!

I had a pack of peppers left from last week (best before the 15th, sigh) and only one was still edible. Good grief you'd've thought they'd won the lottery. But funny enough, the boys like carrot, but they prefer other things. Like bell pepper. They have a serious thing for bell pepper. Except the red ones? Apparently the red ones are evil.

Send them my way - yellow is ignored and red is their version of crack! This will change when I next stock up on reds only of course

Well I'm safe until they decide they can't stand the green ones either...

Mine are fussy too. I came back out to the shed the other day after breakfast and the carrot had been eaten...oh yes, but then chewed into tiny pieces and spat out (their are teeth are fine just in case you were wondering!). The next day the same carrot was fine apparently and they ate the remaining piece :hb:

They don't like peppers and some weeks they like cabbage some weeks not so much...kale is better from Waitrose than from tesco apparently..the only constant favourites are dill, cucumber, romaine lettuce ( but they wont eat the stalky bit in the middle of the leaves) and celery, the rest depends on their mood on the day. Oh and they like chicory but not the stalky end. Clearly too spoilt!

I have never had such fussy guineas!

Now THAT'S hilarious, lol. Mine only get fresh veg from Tesco. Morrisons and Asda are miiiiiles away. And we're definitely not posh enough for a Waitrose here lol. I changed their cage around a bit earlier and hid the remaining pepper in the hay. Twice now I've caught Comet sneaking out from his house, only to grab some pepper and leg it back under cover. Man, the things they'll do for that stuff...

Wait, bell pepper can't be fed regularly? We've fed every day- red, less often. Ours eat everything except courgette. Godfrey once ate a dead leaf and also enjoys hair and trying to eat my nail varnish.

Mine love cabbage and green leaves but meticulously strip them so they don't have the stalks and 'veins'

Mine love cucumber, sugar snap peas, and green pepper. Only green pepper. I gave some red yesterday and had evil looks. They adore coriander, but I have run out and they had baby leaves with beetroot this morning. Corn on the cob is also enjoyed.

They don't like the peppers from Lidle, only Tescos. Carrots are enjoyed except by Snowy who can't stand them or peas.

Well it gets worse, I went to Tesco as that's nearest and got them, some organic kale to make up for the fact it's not Waitrose :hb: and they won't eat it...at all! I honestly think they are the worlds fussiest pigs. They have a whole bag to get through as well. They had the cheek to sniff it and then eat the hay instead giving me the stink eye at the same time.

comet sounds cute, I love it when they steal stuff and run off with it , so sneaky!

Isn't it odd how they do this? I mean how on earth would they survive in the wild!?! I think some have evolved into very fussy poop machines! My Guineas from years ago would have been ashamed of my girls fussiness with food and stalk evasion and told them to be more grateful! :rtm:

Hair and nail varnish! :yikes: Well that's a new one lol! Mine think courgettes should be made illegal!

Ours first thought peppers were just..nope. Now, they love them.
Also Godfrey will eat hair given half a chance, and he likes at nibble at my nails when they're painted, not that I let him of course. And they do hate courgette!

Hilarious! :lol!::clap::))

All our boys refused point blank yesterday to eat their peppers but devoured everything else, today they devoured everything! Fusspots eh, but I love them :) :luv:
