I thought it was a fluke the first time my piggy Dooley picked up a stiff piece of hay and started rubbing against his metal cage, the sound is like bells. Then days later he did it again! He was doing it with intention to make sounds. I still can't believe it, but he has done it again, 3 times that I saw. This no fluke he is doing it with deliberate movements and seems to pause to hear the ringing of metal . His instrument , stiff stalk of hay and metal cage. I'm blown away! Any body else experienced this amazing behavior? I will record it and share it. I have audio, working on video of this astounding talented piggy.

That is a new one for me, but piggies like effects they can create. My Minx loved to race through the border past the tiny frog pond and make all the frogs in the garden go plop plop plop. She also worked out that if she waited long enough she could then dash back for the same effect again.
I was somewhat less enchanted when Minx discovered 10 days before giving birth to unplanned pet shop babies that she could jump the stairs and developed a fascination with our bathroom toilet brush, tough!

My blind cataract piggy Mischief in turn worked out that she could topple a hay bag leaning on the wall by wiggling between the bottom and the wall, then sniff out the opening, crawl in and have a happy nap... The first time she pulled that one was at my mother-in-law's. It took her and my husband about half a very frantic hour to find her in the bag in my absence. But I set her up later to see whether it was accidental or deliberate and she would repeat her actions in a way that left no doubt that she knew exactly what she was doing.!

Piggies are not stupid at all and can be very creative and persistent in working something out. I have heard of one that learned to operate a bell to get attention - unfortunately that did come with a downside as attention was wanted around the clock!
