So my little Dumpling was out this evening and I felt a lump on her side, almost under her armpit.

It's completely hard, not soft like Poggles fatty lumps and I'm a little worried it's a tumor of some sort :(

We will be on the phone to the vet first thing I think.

Anyone any advice?

:(

Oh no :( not Dumpling. I have no advice I'm afraid, hoping the vet can tell you it's nothing sinister. Is she okay in herself? Hugs x

Aww no's :( You are doing the right thing as it is advisable to have all new lumps checked out.

Try not to worry as it could be a number of things. My Erin had a lump on her side for 8 months which started as a fatty lump. It recently became harder and then started weeping so off to the vets we went. It turned out to be a cyst which my vet drained and it has healed now.

At worst, if your vet is concerned / suspicious by it, the lump can be removed through surgery.

Good luck x

Thanks for your kind words folks!

Dumpling is booked in to the vets for 2.20 so we will wait and see what they say then!

She's so happy and lively in herself and I found it completely by chance, it's still pretty small but I think having it checked is the best option as if it needs removing, I'd rather we did it while small than big!

Thanks again for your kind words ♥ :)

Hoping it all goes well today, as you say you have caught it early but hoping it is nothing to worry about. Will keep checking in on her thread. Just replied to your pm x x

Why are they so prone to lumps. :( Shereen has five and they are nothing serious so let us hope the same for Dumpling.

Best have any lump seen by a vet - yours can be anything from a cyst to a swollen lymph node. Only a vet can decide after he's had a good look and feel! Lumps are always worrying. I have been having a spate of them lately, too.

I know what you mean :( Ena has 3 fatty lumps on her belly that are really noticible when picking her her :( Vet checks them every time we go and they're fine, just don't feel very nice x

So it's a tumour :(

We were in with the vet for about 25 minutes and he aspirated to see if there were any fat cells or any white blood cells in case it was an abscess and there weren't any but he said there were some very suspect looking clusters of cells :(

Poor little baby. He's advised watching and waiting for now. It's mobile under the skin and with no attachments so he thinks we should just monitor it and see if it grows before removing it. I've said I'll have a think because I kind of want it gone when small if it's a tumor but equally don't want to remove it if it's unnecessary.. what would you guys do?

Hmm, poor baby has a red patch of fur on her side from the needle, she bled a little but is happily back home munching hay now! x

Oh no, Poor Dumpling :(

I honest don't know as no experience with tumours, hoping someone with experience will be around shortly to suggest what to do for the best. How Cavy savy is your vet?

Lots of love Dumpling and big hugs to you x x x

I know, bless her. She's now a brown, white and red pig (though she has stopped bleeding!)

It wasn't the usual vet I see that saw her today, but he seemed very knowledgeable and did the aspirate without so much as a flinch from her. He also said that a colleague had had a look at the slide too and had seen the same but I don't know :(

She's still as demanding as ever, with or without lump :)) lol!

Bless her heart!

I'm pleased she is still being a diva! Have you gotta go for another check up?

I am sorry for the diagnosis - not what you want to hear, but glad that she is still happy in herself!

PS: You can always see another vet for a second opinion if you feel you want more input.

I am so sorry. :( When Peronel was diagnosed with a tumour it was on her kidney and could not be removed safely. I would have done anything for it to be removed and have her with me still.

I am so sorry that you received the news that you didn't want to hear :(

If it were me, I would opt to have any suspicious looking lumps removed but would advise a second opinion first.

Last summer, my Ellie (r.i.p) developed a couple of lumps on her belly. My vet was suspicious by them just by the feel so suggested surgery. The lumps were removed and sent away for testing. They turned out to be tumours but were thankfully benign.

It is a good sign that the tumours are not attached to anything, Ellie's were like that.

I just think that if left you will worry yourself sick over it.

How is little Dumpling? x x

Hi All, sorry to only just reply on here, I've been out and about all weekend and unable to get on here properly (still only on here briefly in passing lol!)

Dumpling is doing well and still seems unaffected by the lump, I haven't had a look at it today as the vet said not to look every day if possible or I'll never see if there's a difference in size..

We've had a pink wee incident this morning, just the one but nothing since.. she did have a strawberry to eat yesterday, do you reckon it could have been tinged from that? She's not squeaking or anything and it's stopped now.. possibly back to the vets for that one! Poor girl.

Thanks for all your messages and comments etc and Lee, I'll reply to your PM asap! :))

Thanks again, Dumpling sends licks and sniffles!

So little Dumplestiltskin is booked in for tomorrow to be operated on :( my poor little Dumpling pie :(

The lump has doubled in size and I wanted it removing before it got any bigger and attached to anything..

I'm very worried and nervous for my poor little baby, out of all of our pigs, she's the one that always comes only to me for cuddles and will sit with me for hours talking away.. poor little baby brown :(

Dumpling is my avatar by the way for all that don't know who this special lady is :))

Will update you all with how it goes!

Thank you!

Everything crossed for Dumpling tomorrow, you are doing the right thing for your beautiful girl. Lots of love from Me, Rach and all the girls. Will be thinking of you both x x x

She is beautiful, please let us know what happened. We are thinking of you.

Hi all! Thanks for all your kind words.

The operation went well and dumpster is back at home with us. The poor girl, the wound is much bigger than I thought but she's leaving it alone at the mo and it looks clean and tidy. She's scoffing her face and pooping like a trooper :)) so its a case of watching and waiting now! Poor little thing, when I picked her up from the vets she looked so sad, has perked up no end being back home!

So pleased she is eating and the op was success. Been thinking about her today. Did the vet give you some painkillers for the next few days?
Love to Dumpling and lots of recovery vibes xx
