I have tried my 2 girls on a whole selection of dry food and have found that the one they eat more of is wagg. However, I have noticed that they always seem to eat the yellow flake bits and the green bits etc but always leave the brown and dark brown bits. They are also fussy when it comes to veg. They absolutly love broccoli, carrot, parsley and cabbage but hate cucumber, mint, cauliflower and peppers :-\ I do give them plenty of veg each day so am wondering if this is why they are leaving bits of dry food. Any suggestions on why this is or what else I could try? I am currently going through the guinea pig shopping list to find out their likes and dislikes

Hi Claire,

They are selective feeding which can happen with the museli. You could try getting them on pellets I use Super Guinea Excel. Mix it with the museli to change them over.

Also with the veg I give greens and then 4 different veggies per serving per pig. Mine were fussy as babes but they soon learnt that if they didn't eat it they got nothing else. :) I'd just give them what they liked for now and perhaps try a different veg each week.

Try them on pellets for sure, although you will find they will turn their noises up for a while, but once they realize thats it, they will eat it all up. As to veg I alternate what I give them, but I give them one thing per sitting, for instance I would give them carrots in the morning and greens at night. Even if they yet again back off and not eat it, if you leave it with them for a few hours they will have ago. But do not leave it any longer than a day as it goes off, and bad veg gives them belly trouble :o. I have been doing this routine with my pigs for years and they eat everything only one is fussy but she will eat if she thinks she is missing out! I feed mine on a dry food called Guinea pig Gold I have just changed a month ago and they love it, its not as dry as some and is slightly sticky in texture plus its got loads of vit-c.

Thanks for the advice, I will try these suggestions out O0 It is probably my own fault for being too soft with them and letting them get away with eating what they like :)
