Oooh snap I'm currently on book 2 and loving it! Having serious withdrawal from the show so good to relive it all haha!

I think perhaps I am the only person who not only did not watch the show, but isn't the least bit interested in the books either...

I LOVE to read, just generally not what the masses are currently devouring.

It wouldn't normally be my go to genre, and the shows weren't to my taste but I'm hooked on the books:blink:

I started watching a couple of weeks ago and am hooked. Watched episode 8 of season 3 last night and, apart from seriously messing up my dreams, I can't wait to see how everything unfolds!

I've not seen it either! (Though I some how still know the general plot and all the character deaths...)

I think it's one of them shows that everyone talks about so much you don't need to watch it to get the jist

Honestly, I just googled a synopsis of the books and halfway down the first paragraph, I lost interest.
Perhaps the show is different from the books (as usually is the case & more often than not, definitely for the worse...) but it's just not my cup of tea. And trust me, I LOVE TEA! (Barry's Irish Gold w/cream & truvia!)
But, my latest book that I loved and MOURNED when it was over, was The Help, by Kathryn Stockett.
Also LOVED the movie as well...

It's so hard getting into a new book when the previous one leaves you in mourning...

Once I was ready, I did read & LOVE The Glass Castle, by Jeannette Walls. Actually loved it so much that I got her other memoir: Half Broke Horses- which I am currently taking my time reading because I am enjoying this as well.
Next on tap?
The Silver Star, same author.

This one isn't a memoir though, but fiction, so I've got my fingers crossed!

I'm prone for a good Jackie collins, but shh don't tell anyone!

But other than that anything that picks my fancy in the local charity shops..

Might have to look out for the above mentioned, love a good book, strangely nothing beats the smell of book

I read a lot and love sci fi and fantasy -(though never, never would I go near any of those appallingly badly written Shades of Grey things!) BUT normally anything with animal cruelty in it would find itself in the bin. It says something for G o T that I was able to get past that! It's the nearest thing to Lord of the Rings but without the misogyny! However what is fascinating now is that the TV show is seriously deviating from the books, so all of us clever clogs who did know what was going to happen next - now don't have a clue! :rtm:

You're definitely not. I tried to watch it, but I really don't get it.

Anyway, :btt: ... What a cheeky little piggie. You can't ever get mad at them though, just look at that face. I think it's their piggie super power!

I was actually one of those that went out and bought the shades of grey books (I know how sad am I:mal:'

The main thing that stood out for me was how poorly it was written! Like that must have been some cheap crappy editor!

But yes a very cheeky piggy this is the aftermath of her book eating adventures...

I'll admit that I also read every 50 shades book, and while the writing was rough, I flew through the filth with a naughty mind & an evil grin...

NEXT!

The following book had me from the first chapter- I honestly could NOT put it down and have gone as far as to buy copies for friends as gifts and EACH Friend I've shared it with, ALL agreed it was a spectacular surprise read that they also fell strangely in love with!
Anyone here ever read it as well?

Haven't read it no, but the cover has me already!

If only we had a book club:(

The books are fab, chuck. My hubby bought and read them way before we ever heard of the TV series being made - before the book series gained any fame too, and they really are very good. I read them too before we watched the series. Yes everyone is talking about it now, and that would normally put me off too, as I get turned off by hype and often don't share the same taste as the masses anyhow, but I genuinely recommend this series :)

If you love to read I highly recommend the Wheel of Time series. I don't think that one is famous yet, but it deserves to be. One of the best written series ever, and epic, I'm talking 13 long books of epic! :)

I am gonna be laughing about that one all day today- FANTASTIC!

And I'll look into those books, thank you.

Just finished "the lovely bones" I've never cried so much before at a book:(:(

I haven't read that yet, I do have it somewhere in my room I picked it up in my local charity shop for 50p what a bargain, but I think it could well be the first read:yahoo:
