Before I put them out in the run I always check each of them over, catching them all is getting rather harder now they all know how to use the ramp, but that is a small price to pay when they have much more space for doing so. Today I decided i should trim all of their back claws as my arms are cut to bits thanks to sharp claws.
Flash was first and he was really good. I put them on my chest as I sat on my garden bench and gently trimmed each claw in turn, I put my finger under each foot in turn and with the other hand trim off the sharp buts. I had a very calm young man who let me do all of the trimming, gave him a little cuddle before he went in the run.
Minty was next and she actually enjoys being on my chest, didnt bat an eyelid when I did her feet, one is black so I was careful to only take the tips off, their claws are not long anyway, just sharp. She likes me to rub her nose and punk her punky nose hair up
and to stroke her shoulders.
Crystal followed and she still twitches each time I touch her, she doesnt like her nose stroked so I was trying to find an area she did enjoy being stroked, she likes her bum stoked it seems. I have done her claws before and again she was good as gold, a little wriggly but she is also happy to sit on my chest while I sort her nails out. I did discover a lot of dead skin (and it was just dead skin) in the top fold of her ear, I managed to get some out and she was much happier once I had taken some out. I will have to keep an eye on this as if it builds up it may lead to an infection so she will have to get used to me fiddling with her ears - the other side was clean.
Fudge was the last one, she still hasnt got used to the ideas of cuddles and is constantly wanting to run about, she is just 7 weeks old so still a baby, she did not like her feet being touched so I had to trim the nails as they were sat on my clothes, and she is such a wriggle bum. She also insists on telling me how much she hates being with me, although she likes her cheeks being stroked (she pretends she doesnt) so she gradually gave into a cuddle but she will take time to get used to it.
