One of the things I do in my spare time is trawl through Gumtree and preloved etc and look at guineas and if I am alerted to people that have a large quantity of grillos I generally go and have a look a pet and a snuggle and mae sure everythings AOK, and I have mets some FAB individuals when I do it and some that are completely clueless, yesterday I had the sad job of being in contact with a gentleman that was not only clueless but grossly mistreating his guineas.

he was selling his guinea pigs and after further chatting he said that 2 of the females that he was selling were pregnant! he had 9 in total and wanted to sell them all to me as I knew more than he did about them...Long story short I got them all of them refesued to pay what he wanted and paid fdor his petrol and the hutches but turned on the charm and said I would happy to help! and called a lady from a guinea sanctuary in West Sussex she was amazing and there were lots of hugs and tears from me at 11 oclock last night! all the boars had health problems and had been scraping like crazy there were 2 that were blind and there were a couple that were full of mites and fur falling out! so sad!

The females the guys said were about 2 and pregnant for the first time but when I looked at them they had baby claw feet I would say there were baby's 3-4 months, both pregnant and one that was long haired never brushed sodden with matted fur round her toosh! they had sniffles and one had an eye infection!

I know I did the right thing getting them out of there and I know that they will have amazing new homes and get all the love and medical attention that they need I regognised 4 of the males as single males advertised over the past few months for free rehoming on Gumtree and the guy admitted that he had started to try and breed them but they are and I quote ' they are not the same as rabbits'

A really emotional evening the cages they were housed in were 3ft by 1-1.5ft tall the smell of amonia was hedious and and there were 6 in one 3 in another!
I want to thank pauline for all the hugs and support that she gave me last night and I really hope they all pull through but some of them were looking so bad last night!

Oh my god how awful. :( That is terrible that the poor things were treated in such a cruel way. You did so well to get them out of their and ensure they are safe now. Well done to you. You should feel so proud of yourself. I know it was terrible to see but they are going to be fine now thanks to you. I really hope that man stops having guinea pigs and rabbits as he really sounds clueless.mallethead

First of all well done for getting those poor pigs out of that horrid home.
Really must be hard to see them in such bad conditions and I can imagine it would be impossible not to get upset over the way they were being kept.
Really that man should be reported for the state he kept them in but the main thing is you've saved them.
I hope they all haven't been damaged too much and can start on the road to being healthy happy pigs.
Best of luck with them :)

What a lovley deed you did! I hope they pull through too, some
People just see pound signs! Such ashame for the piggies, It couldn't have been great for you seeing them all like that :( bit you have the satisfaction of know youve helped them all you can.
What a lovley thing to do

Well done you, I just get angry when I look at free ad's but never have the courage to try to advise people of better options. This is a great thing you have done, you should be pleased at the difference you have made to those piggies x

I just really hate seeing them and a lot of the time I just go for a snuggle and a lot of the time people are amazing and I just say its great to meet with people that live grillos as much as me and tell tem how beautiful they are sometimes we exchange piggie penoal style emails too other times I try and give advise and if I feel the need to report the post I'll do it, but yesterday I had proper gritted teeth and My hubby had to stay in the flat he was so angry! Thanks for the support everyone!

You did a really great thing there! Thank goodness you were able to rescue those poor wee piggies! They'll be so much better off now and all thanks to you!

Well done on the guinea pig rescue that's an amazing thing to do! Not surprised you've been so emotional, seeing the piggies in such a state must've been heartbreaking. How are they all doing? X

apparently doing well eating and are now in pairs, they have had baths and the pregnant sows are doing better. I asked if their were any that passed on but that was avoided so I dont know, I think she could tell that I was pretty upset that I had to give the guy any money atall and couldnt keep any of them due to the state they were in, she has said that I can go and visit in a few weeks which is great! the cages that were in the drive while all this was happening were 'reclaimed' while were were getting the guineas rescued and are now being sold on gumtree, I didnt want them anyway but OMG what a couple of days!

Arghh it annoys me just how clueless people are with pets they have.. mallethead mallethead well done you for given them a new life :rose :) -c

saveing those piggies was the best you can do and I am proud of you I wish there were more people like you and less like that awful man he should be kept in those conditions to see how he likes it:aJFBQ00142070108C:
