But I am soooo fed up with syringe feeding Jet.

I’m managing to get 80-100ml of cc a day into him but he is showing no interest at all in hay (he will eat other things - I’m wondering if this is actually the underlying issue) he is full of wind due to not eating and I have a constant migraine from the lack of sleep and I’m exhausted. It’s only been 13 days since they overtrimmed his teeth but I wish they would grow back.

You are such a dedicated piggy mummy & you’re doing a wonderful job. Sorry you feeling so shattered.. is there anyone who can share the night feeds with you?
Come on Jet, get better soon & try eat some hay. (Are there other types of hay you could try, just a thought)
Hugs xx

Oh you poor thing, I know how you feel. It can be so hard sometimes. Would he eat from a bowl? I found that it was some relief when Iggy decided to eat in his own with a new mix of CC, wheatgrass powder and some nuggets. Could you try something like that to get him eating a bit on his own?

Big hugs, it's not easy when they're reliant on you 24/7

Syringe feeding is hard work, but once he does eventually reach for his hay you'll be delighted. Has he been back to the vet at all, is he eating anything and what medicine is he on?

Hang in there.
You are doing an amazing job and it will end eventually.
Be kind and try to give yourself some down time between feeds.
When Ruby was at her most ill I let myself lay on the sofa after lunch every day for an hour (I would have lay there all afternoon some days, but I set an alarm).
It might not sound like much, but it helped a lot.
Fingers firmly crossed for some fast growing teeth for Jet!

Thank you all, there isn't anyone else to help really, due to illness my husband's coordination isn't great and the kids are too young. I haven't been back to the vets yet, I have said that if he isn't eating by next week I will go back but I don't want them to jump to the wrong conclusion - at the moment there is a chance this is still a front tooth too short issue, I don't think they will understand that they have trimmed them too short. I am also angry and frustrated. he as lost 300g in 18 months and we are still no nearer to undesrstanding what the issue is. If I remove veg (before they trimmed his teeth) he loses 50g a day which says to me he isn't eating hay - hence the tummy issues. At 100ml of CC a day we are maintaining weight.

I am knackered because I am doing this on top of a full time job. My only consolation is that during the day he will take 25 ml at a time so I can leave him longer and hubby then feeds him veg inbetween (i pop home at lunch to feed him).

It's understandable! Sending huge hugs, you can get through this xx

Goodness what hard work and demoralising when you dont know what the problem is. Lots of coping vibes to you and independent eating vibes for Jet.

You are having a rough time.
Glad you feel you can sound off here and we’ll all understand,
Can’t add to what’s been said but wanted to add support

Sending you hugs. You have had a really tough time lately with your piggys and syringe feeding and worrying about them is exhausting. You are amazing, hope you manage to have some me time soon.

Syringe feeding is exhausting physically and emotionally. It takes so much out of you. You’ve done so well to keep it up for so long. Hang in in there. You are doing a fabulous job.

Oh bless you! That must be wearing you out. Don't worry about coming here and telling it like it is - if you can't get support here, then where can you? Sending hugs and virtual refreshment. Hope Jet's teeth grow back quickly.

Come on Jet hurry up and get better then your slave can have a rest and you won't have your handsome good looks ruined. Wipey facey isn't much fun is it?

@Katiedid have you tried him on grass, rather than hay? It may be softer and easier on his over trimmed teeth.

If he is eating veg he may be happy to eat grass..

Sending you hugs, hang on in there. Hope Jet is feeling better soon and I would try some grass too.xx

He is getting grass but we have slight devil and deep blue sea syndrome here - its rich spring grass at the moment and the fact that he will only eat veg means his tummy isn't great. I have tried all different hays, I have chopped it up, I have been told there is some soft hay at a shop on the other side of the island so I am headed there at the weekend.

Yesterday there was more slight improvement and we are only about 4mm away from the teeth meeting (so this is after 2 weeks and we are still 4mm away!).
