Poor Coco after 3 years still seems to be very skittish to the point if you say her name she literally bolts for her hidey with great speed (not over exaggerating) like i'm about to murder her and she's genuinely frightened which I know she's a prey animal and it's natural but strangely when I take her out of the cage she's the sookiest guinea pig ever and loves a cuddle and scratches under her chin and on her nose but she won't tolerate anyone else touching her and shrinks away from them. The only time she will allow me to talk to her and she doesn't run away is at dinner time and she will even eat her dinner out of my hand unless I talk or say her name, for some reason saying her name frightens her big time. I feel really upset for her that she still feels that scared. I'm wondering after 3 years is it too late to do anything to help her. I'm a real sook when it comes to Coco because she is the most like me, I'm shy and don't like to interact with people much either so my heart goes out to her.

Peanut's the same and he's five! As far as I know no one has ever done anything mean to him, it's just his temperament. I have been syringe feeding him for the last month and I feel so mean everytime I get him out of his cage and he looks terrified. I tell him I'm sorry everytime. Peanut has been with us since he was 12 weeks old so I don't think he's going to improve much now. I find the piggy whispering techniques in this thread help to calm him down.
