cuddling him tonight i felt under his chin and his throat and found a pea sized lump so he off to the vet asap, will phone in morning and explain that I am going away on thursday please can they see him quickly if he needs an op then get it done quick so I can nurse him until hes ok, mum will be fine but I will be so very worried while away, he is managing to eat a little soft veggie and hay but the dried food he is struggling with, so will also start some mashed stuff in morning, his weight is ok not lost much at all, thank good ness, this week is going to be mad, got neurologist wednesday and my nails are booked to be done wednesday got my usual chiropodist tuesday but that can all be cancelled for arties sake believe me, at least I know now whats the matter with him, its the size of a small pea, fingers crossed its nothing major, wish I could take him with me :(

Good luck - hope you get the little man sorted before your holiday.

Good luck with Artie, hopefully it is just an abcess starting. Mary

thats what I'm hoping, might just start baytril on him tomorrow got some left over from dobby,

just spoke to the vet and am seeing johnathan monday 9.45 only emergencys today and I personally dont think its an emergency he has a small pea like swelling in his throat, vet said it could be a pocket of infection etc so luckly had some baytril which he is now on also giving him metatone and metacam just in case he is eating hay and fresh grass etc I have given him some critical care this morning which he lapped up, more later of course. fingers crossed the swelling will be down by monday, and all will be well, I'm doing exactly what the vet would have done if I saw him today, so am saving time by giving him baytril, he seems perkier today and playing with his new cuddly friend 98)

Hi love, is it pea size could it be one of those 'lumps' that just stay there, you know the fatty tissue ones? we're crossing our paws for you :smitten: :smitten:
We're sure he'll be strong and brave and front up to it all O0 O0

Come on Alfie :smitten: :smitten:

hes not eating his dried food so the lump must be sore poor babe, just spoke to mum and she said not to worry she will syringe feed him and give him any medicines he needs and take him for check ups I said it might be that he has a wound that needs cleaning and shes said no worrys, it will all be done, feel a little better, just going to syringe him some more nosh, before going into town to meet mIck to get the 2 boys who are staying here some frozen ready meals , you know what teens are like well Stuarts 25 but is either working or is rebuilding and updating my 2 computers so he wont have time, so frozen meals it is along with my cakes they love in the fridge and freezer

Hi Michele, Forgive me if you know this already, and you probably do,but the dry mix can be ground down to a pod er and mixed with the critical care. This gives a more normal diet.I only use critical care if the pig is right of the grub,.As Artie is eating grass and hay I would just syringe him the powdered dry mix plus some pureed fruit or veg. This is just a suggestion. You are lucky to have such a helpful mum,it makes all the difference to have someone like that when you have to go away and leave a sick pig. Good luck to you and Artie on Monday.Mary

will try that tomorrow mary he has nibbled tiny bits of carrot and I am going to blend it in my blender to pulp it up for him, gave him baytril and metcam along with metatone and to be honest he looks good , will post pic of him and his new friend in a while,

took my brave boy to see Johnathan this morning and he has admitted him for an exploratory as the lump feels like a figure 8 shape and its on or next to his gland in his neck no pus came out when he put a needle in, hopefully he will be done today if no emergncy comes in, he will be in thats slot if they do it will be tomorrow, his teeth looked fine but they will also be checked I'm missing him already he was curld up in his cuddle cup in his carrier and everyone was going ahhhhhhhhhhhh, bless him he was a clingy baby this morning, wanting his mummy, Johnathan said he certainly know who you are :'( everybody please hope my baby will be ok, let you know anything when I know :'(

vet just rung they managed to operate on him today and found 2 abcesses and a swollen gland caused by the infection the abcess have been drained and the gland should go down on its own, ( like we get when we have a infection) have got to keep the wound clean and dry he also said one back tooth was a little misaligned so he trimmed it, the only worry was why did he get the abcesses was it a tooth root problem but only time will tell, am now waiting to get a call to say he is alert enough for me to pick him up from my nearby surgery where the vet will take him from the main hospital or wait until tomorrow morning, he is in for some major cuddles, I'm so glad I was alert to know he was having problems it was only knowing he was off his dry food that alerted me, I'm delighted also my vets managed to do it today and hope hes on the mend by thursday, mum will have to take him for his check ups , :smitten: I love my furball so much and cant wait for some cuddles but you all know how that feels :smitten:
