Well most of you probably know my Puddles is very very nervous but slowly coming round. I'd been to get some bolts for my hutch today and fixed them to the door. My boys have been playing in their hutch this afternoon but still bringing them in at night.
So I go and get Trek first (I always get him first because he's the boss) and bring him inside. I go to get Puddles next. carrying over the grass I hear a fighter jet above, scared me sh^tless, jumped, dropped Puddles on the grass and he was off down to the bottom of the garden. I thought i had everything blocked of but he found a gap and out he went.
Our garden is secure and absolutely no way out, over the fence into brambles, nettles and a barbed wire fence from before our houses were built. So he's out there all alone. I'm running in the house screaming for hubby, crying my eyes out absolutly devestated. Hubby calms me down and tells me to go get Trek in his cage to see if he would call to him. Trek was quiet as a mouse. i'm thinking he's just gone at this pioint.
Hubby goes gets his ladders to have a look over the fence see if he could see him. Comes back with fishing net in tow. whats he gunna do with that! We rustled bags, we rustled pellet carton, we lay cucuber and pellets and sat. We sat for ages, rustling and waiting, hoping really. Hubby saw him over fence. He was there within reach but net couldn't get any where through the brambles and hubby didnt want to frighten him away. we just sat for ages, hoping that he wou;dn't go away again, Hubby was watching him, wandering about up and down along the fence up the street, down the street but he my as well be lost forever because we had no way of getting him back in.
After another while and now losing light, Trek decided to call out and low and behold Puddles came wandering back up the garden. hubby waited till he's wandered a safe distance away from the gap and landed his fishing net over him. I could not believe we had got him back. I just couldnt believe it!1
I cuddled him for ages afterwards, all the time he was making a noise (Puddles and I are just beginning to get friends) when I put him back I looked online for a sample of the noise. it appears that Puddles is a very happy chap for going on his adventure and has revelled in the very long exciting (plus a huge feed of dandilion leaves!) exercise and has not been traumatised at all. I wish it was because he was back in his mmaies arms but I know its not. I am just pleased he is happy, I have him back, picturing little furless him, tiny little fella, playing in that masss of land oblivious of the dangers. I will never be that lucky again
