Problem: I'm taking Voltti to the vet tomorrow, and it's freezing temperatures here. I'm worried about the breeze getting in through the vent holes in the carrier.

Solution: I made a cover for the carrier! It's made of fleece and has a string on the hem so it fits well. And it was really easy to make!

The last couple of times we visited the vet it was windy and I struggled trying to hold a small blanket over the carrier!

Thank you all! I thought to share this as I've never seen anyone using a cover before, I'm glad if I gave you an idea what to make next! :D

I also first thought of using a blanket to throw over the carrier, but then I thought it would be akward to carry because the handle would be covered too. My next idea was to take a spare piece of fleece and cut a hole for the handle. And then it occurred to me that I should just sew the whole thing together and make a proper cover!

I found this beautiful colour fleece from the ready-cut sales basket from the fabrics shop. I just threw it over the carrier and pinned it to shape to form the seams that go along the corners. Then it was just cut and sew. I added the thread to the hem to make it tight as the carrier has a curved bottom, and then I cut a hole for the handle. I don't sew that often, but I found this easy enough to make! And fleece is a lovely material to sew, as you don't have to worry about the cut edge coming apart.

After the vet visit I can now report that the cover worked as I had planned! It was easy to use and I didn't have to worry about Voltti getting cold. I'm also quite positive that Voltti approved of the cover too. At least we found him curled up nice and cosy after the car ride home. I can really recommend making a cover to anyone needing to protect their carriers!
