I have had no luck with local rescues in finding a baby boar to pair with Jack who has been recently bereaved. But I was in the pet shop today getting hamster food and the have one single 8 week old boar needing a home.

I am very tempted but I'm worried about what happens if Jack doesn't accept a newcomer. The last thing I need is two single boars!

Any opinions?

With a shop piggy, you have to take the plunge and try.

Would it be possible that one of the local rescues would be able to take him on and interested in pairing them up with one of their single boars in case things didn't work out? However, more often than not youngsters of that age will be accepted and Jack will play daddy to him because he is too young to be a serious rival yet.

I am very tempted to go for it. Would it be best to keep the new boy separate for a few days till he settles in, or better to try introductions right away?
