For the past 4 years I've had boars, and I loved them. I found them to be a lot more cheeky and have more of a personality than my girls (I love my sows so much, I found them to be more friendly than my boars) and when Billy and Roy died, I only had Barry, and he was just lovely, and I was so worried about losing him. Now he's gone I feel horrible :( I loved my boys so much and I miss having boys so much :( And knowing its my fault Barry's gone just makes it worse. Sorry for this complaining thread :(

I am sorry your missing your boars so much. Why dont you adopt a pair? You clearly have the time and love for them.

Boars are brilliant

I have only had my boar Bumble for 5 wheeks but he is so loving and cute - more loving than my girls - am so glad I saved him from being sent to p@home as he was the only baby in the litter - I cant imagine what it would be like to loose any of mine - you poor thing - I agree - adoption might be the way to go.

My hutch isn't really big enough for a pair, it was just over 3ft, and I should have given Barry more space, but unfortunately I bought it before I really realized how much space they need, and it wasn't enough for Barry :( He had a 6ft run which he went in all day though, so I hope he was happier with that :( I can't really get another hutch (my parents dont like me buying more hutches because they don't like to see old hutches wasted) I'd love another boar but it's just not fair to put them in a too small hutch. My girls live in two hutches (one 4ft and one 3ft) attached together with a 6ft run, so none of my hutches are a great size, I'm slowly waiting until my parents let me buy a new hutch and then I'm going to buy a 6ft hutch for them. I want to give my guinea-pigs so much more :(

Would you consider a c and c cage? It is lovely to have your piggies indoors and be with them all day. :)

I'll package mine up and send them to you for a holiday if you like :)) I agree with boars having more character!

I'd love to have them inside, but my parents prefer them to be outside. Sorry, I'm not trying to be annoying, I just don't have a lot of choice with my guinea-pigs because its up to my parents. I did consider a neutered boar to live with my 3 girls, but I don't know if a rescue would rehome to me because of my different housing for them, and I don't know if its even big enough. I'd love a boar, but I don't know if it would be fair to get another, especially so soon after Barry's died. I know this sound stupid, but I really feel like something is missing because I've got so used to having boars. Yes, my boars were very stinky, and they clicked their teeth at me if I talked to them when they were asleep, and they would sit by the girls run trying to impress them, but I loved them and I really wish I could have them back.

awww :(

Sorry to hear that youre feeling like this. I have never had sows so I cant comment on the difference in personalities etc, but I know how it feels to miss piggies.

I'm missing my boy so much....If I could have him back for just one more day, I would be the happiest person :(

I am looking to get some more, but not right now.....too many things going on and Ive been ill for weeks. Looking after myself right now is a struggle let alone some piggies.

Chin up hun, love your sows and enjoy your time with them x

sorry to hear you are down and missing your boys. i hope you can feel better about it soon knowing that they are resting peacefully and enjoy your time with your girls xx

aww hugs x I love my boars too. I love my sows but the boars have more personality

If you can, why don't you try to rehome another pair, a confirmed unbondable bachelor to live next to your girls, or see whether your girls would accept a neutered boar?

As much as I love my girls, boys are delightful. My very first own childhood piggy was a big softie of a boar and I wouldn't want to be without my neutered boars now - the only way I can have them.

I'd like to, but I'm not sure my hutches are big enough. I know the 3ft hutch isn't big enough for a pair, and may not be big enough for one, and the girls hutches are a 4ft and 3ft hutch attached together, I don't know if a rescue would rehome to me because of it being different and maybe not big enough. I'd love another boar but I'd only want to get one if I could give him a great home and with the size of the hutches I'm not sure if I could.

could you not extend the 3 ft hutch somehow? see if you can pick up one on ebay cheaper? you obviously want another! i do agree with piggy fan that c&c cages are great, we get to spend the evenings with them when it is getting dark, inside with them, and dont have to go outside to put them away!

Please do NOT be so hard on yourself......... :{

You can only do what suits you and your surroundings........
remember in future when you have time and space you can do what you like............... :)

i know what you mean about the boys..... when our boy passed away (aka Duke...) and i was offered girls it was sort of wierd to say yes....... but i knew it was time to have piggies again x)........

Your girlies will be fine x) but maybe sometime......hey if the situation arrives and you're ok with it.....got for it..........but only if you're ready xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>

Thank you, I really would love another boar, but I'm not sure if I'm just rushing into getting another because I don't have Barry anymore. My parents don't really want any more boars because they have to be kept seperately, but they may be ok with a neutered boar, but I don't know :( I'd rather get rid of my 4ft and 3ft attached hutches and just buy a bigger hutch. It would take up a lot less space in the garden and would look better than the two half broken hutches I've got attached together. I'm going to think about it for a bit, and maybe see how I feel in a while. Are there any rescues near Haslemere, Surrey that anyone knows of that have neutered boars? I know some rescues don't neuter their boars. I'm not able to get one right now, but I'd like to see where the nearest rescues are.
