I find it harder than expected to write this because of how painful and heartbreaking it is to truely acknowledge that my loving Basil is gone. He was over a year old and spent that entire year by my side.
I have been taking him to the vet for exams and xrays, hand feeding him critical care because he lacked desire to eat, and showing him all of the attention I possibly could until I found him this morning laying on his side.
I cant help but blame myself for all of the rookie mistakes I had made. He was such a young piggy and i continue to apologize to him from the bottom of my heart. I don't know what caused his death but I could have done more.
If I could ask for anything.. it would for him to hop on my lap one last time and to pet him until he finally fell asleep.
He seemed to take care of me just as much as I tried to take care of him and I owe him all of these tears. I promise Basil, you will be remembered and loved always. Please everyone, take a second to wish him luck as he finds his way over the rainbow. He deserves every bit of thought.
