I'm desperate to find my boy a girlfriend!

He's been on his own over 4 months now following a big fall out with his previous male cage mate. He is 9 months old.

Is it okay to introduce a mother pig and daughter pig pair (new born 5 weeks) to him? Would this cause problems? Would the mum try to protect the baby or would there be potential risks here?

This is the only offer we have had but I'm just a bit worried they won't bond well? I have no experience of this?

All rescues we have tried are either temporarily closed, have no pigs available or only have boys! And I'm getting worried he must be so lonely although we cuddle him all the time human hugs are no comparison to the love of another pig!

We live in Surrey would really appreciate any help or advice or suggestions :luv:

If you are considering getting a boy you need to get him neutered (if he's not already) and then wait 6 weeks for him to be safe to go in with the girls so that he does not impregnate them.

Hi! I assume your boy is neutered and safely past his 6 weeks post-op safety wait? The little baby in my avatar is the unplanned legacy of a supposedly safe over 5 weeks post-op boar (not one of mine), just to prove that it can really happen as late - and Tegan (who is celebrating her 7th birthday this month) is not the only one.
Neutered / De-sexed Boars And Neutering Operations: Myths And Facts

If he is safely neutered, introducing mum and daughter shouldn't be a problem in terms of acceptance, but you will have to brace for the fact that his gonads may take over and he goes on a humping frenzy. If that is getting too much for mummy, you will need to separate after a few hours/overnight. The baby will be OK - they are so fast and agile that an adult can't get at them unless they allow it. my current adopted baby girl will be the 5th baby of that age that I have bonded with an adult boar/group with a neutered boar; there has never been a problem.
You may however want to have a little refuge for the baby with two exits on opposite sides in case the chasing and humping is getting a bit too wild.
Please don't use any hideys at all during that time, and don't use hideys with just one exit for the first few months, so no piggy can be cornered.
Always introduce on neutral ground. Please take the time to read our bonding guide. You will hopefully find it very helpful and interesting.
Bonding: Illustrated Dominance Behaviours And Dynamics

Here is my 2 year old Dylan meeting two 3 weeks old baby boys to choose his future companion between them.
You can see for yourself just how fast and agile the babies are! As long as they have enough space, the worst that is happening is a dominance nip; and they are a painless carefully judged gesture of power. A boar can mount a baby only if it lets him, as simple as that. ;)
