Hi there, my name is Debbie i'm new here!

I got my beautiful little Piggies on the 1st May and i do adore them but they are showing signs of being aggressive. And i am so dis-heartened because i feel as if it is my fault. When i know it's not!
Winston is a Harlequin, when i got him the lady at the pet shop told me not to worry about his ear (he has a bit out of it) apparently another Guinea Pig he was in with took a dislike to him and attacked him. Any time i hold him he vibrates, also when i was holding him he bit me. He didn't brake the skin but it was enough for me cry out in pain.
Stig is a Dutch Cream with long-ish hair, he's a real cutie. I can pick him up no worries(give or take trying to catch him for a bit) but earlier i was giving them food as it was veggie time and i notice he yawned. I didn't think much of it until he came out again and "yawned". But since reading up it is a sign for me to "back off" which is fair enough but i thought this was meant to be a fun time.
I went up not half an hour ago just to check on the and take out the veg ball and Winston was making this really deep sort of purring noise but i've never heard them making this before.
They healthy well feed little piggies i check their fur everyday so they do not have mites and they had their nails clipped a week ago and the vet said they were healthy.

How can i curb this behaviour as they still are babies and i really do not want them being aggressive when they are adult. I'm 22 so i am not a little girl who goes up and annoys them every 2 minutes they have a lot of alone time. Please help and thank you! xx

My babies vibrate and purr, I thought that was affection, they nibble everything (fingers, clothes etc) but I have since been told that is normal behaviour for babies, one of ours has bitten twice and drew blood, once on my son (we think he may of accidently annoyed/hurt him) and once my other half, I couldnt work out why but when speaking to the lady I got them off we think it was because my other half had been making wedgies and probably had some of the herb flavour on his hands, so when my baby nibbled he got a taste and thought it would be a yummy treat if that makes sense?

The yawning can be a warning but I'm sure they can yawn when tired too (someone may correct me on that though as I'm new to piggies)

I think you should just persivier, I was told mine should stop nibbling once they reach adulthood (though I'm hoping it stops before that) I was also advised not to put Patch down if he bites again so he doesnt learn when hes had enough of being cuddled he can bite to go away. I am sure your piggies do love you lots, also its still early days for them so they may just need to settle

I hope that makes some sense, demonic toddler is having a paddy so thinking is hard work haha xx

I does a little i know that they are babies and are still forming their own wee characters but i just went up again. I didn't go in but i can still hear this noise it's a purr/grunt their inside there little house i don't want to annoy them and lift it off. But i am worried that Winston might be sick but he was as bright as a button earlier and was eating off my hand. It just seems to be constant so i may call my vet to to make sure. I'm just a big worrier lol they are my little hairy babies and i dote on them!

Mine often purr at each other inside the house, they jump about and chase each other too, it might just be that they are showing effection inside the house? Like I say I'm no expert though my 5 are my first piggies, they make lots of noises between them lol. If your worried though your right to go to the vets to get them checked. I was constently worry about noises when I had mine, I looked up noises from several websites and was paranoid for ages they hated me lol, but now a few mths in and I'm getting used to the sounds. Purrs can mean effection, I think listening to sounds can confuse you though (well it did me anyways!) xx

I was right to be concerned! It wasn't Winston making the noise it was Stig and he has a upper respiratory infection but the vet thinks we have caught it early.
Winston is now in his play pen because on the vets instructions Stig needs some "me time" to get better. We have antibiotics so he is going to get lots of love and care. Fingers crossed guys for a speedy recovery.

( I do realise that i have posted this is the wrong section. I am sorry!)
