Would you say I'm underfeeding my two boars? They share a salad that's usually around or over 50 grams, with lettuce, pepper, radicchio, chicory, sometimes cucumber and carrots, sometimes tomatoes. They're a good weight and are fit and healthy, and I think we're feeding them correctly, but everyone else seems to give their pigs much more, and I feel guilty:soz:what's your opinion?
I know I've posted about this before, but I'd just like a straight, blunt answer. Thanks in advance!

the recommended advice on the forum is 50 grams for each pig.do not beat yourself up.80% of the diet is hay.pellets 10%,fresh food 10%.if your pigs are healrhy not losing weight i should not worry.maybe if you wish to increase it,could you give the same amount as you have but twice aday Maybe read the thread on guinea pig diet.Good luck.

I wouldn't worry too much. Some piggies need slightly different diets for different reasons. Toast is on 95% hay and only a very small portion of veg a day, with only a few nuggets a day as a treat. Beans is about 80% hay, a handful of veg and 10-15 grams of nuggets a day.

As long as they get unlimited meadow/timothy hay and the right veg to get their vitamin c etc they'll be fine. :) Too much veg and too many sugary treats can wreck havoc with their digestion.

I feed a mainly hay and grass diet, with a small amount of veg and a few nuggets as a treat. I've never had a guinea pig with a bladder issue feeding this diet, which I feel is a fairly natural diet.
Actually that's a remarkably perceptive point- recreating a somewhat natural environment, not only with their home but with their diet. Thank you!

Thank you! I think the vitamins in the food matters more than the amount. I worry so much about them, but they look so healthy:P

I give (between my two sows) each day (split into AM and PM meals):
100g salad (various leaves/tomatoes/cucumber/peppers etc)
40g pellets (mix of Asda and burgess mint...they won't touch the cavy cuisine I bought!)
Loads of meadow hay in their trays and a hay bag of alfalfa king Timothy hay (refilled as necessary!)
