Junior Guinea Pig
Hi Everyone! This is my first thread so I apologize in advance if I do or say something wrong!
I got 2 piggies back in March. I have wanted guinea pigs for years but my other half wasn't keen. For my 30th Birthday he surprised me with 2 beautiful girls. Since their arrival he has found out he loves them just as much as I do lol and because we didn't think pet shop hutches were all that great (and expensive too) he has built, with his bare hands, a massive 2 story hutch and the girls LOVE it! Anyway. Last week we adopted 2 more girls, approx 16 weeks old but we aren't sure. They had had a rough start and gotten sick but have since been recouped and received a full bill of health. I have them in a pen in my living room atm with a hope to eventually have all 4 living together in the big hutch out the back. They worry me in the sense that, even when we aren't there, they don't come out to eat. The first couple of days i had to put the food in their hide but since, I have had to periodically remove their hide and after a few minutes of doing so they begin to explore and eat, presumably because they are starving! I'm putting this strange behaviour down to a rough start in life but I don't want to leave them without a hide and I do want them to eat! Any ideas? Has anyone experienced this before?
