Hello everyone,

I really need your good vibes and crossed fingers for my beautiful Chip. He was rushed to the vets today, he's been bleeding internally and the vet had to open him up to see what was going on. When she did she found a huge tumor on his spleen 8... so she has had to remove the whole thing. Poor baby. Mum made the decision that if the vet was to find any other tumors whilst she was doing the surgery she didn't want him to be woken up. Luckily the vet didn't see anything else so after three hours of surgery he came around from the anesthetic. Now we just have to play the waiting game to see if it is cancer and if it has spread to his whole body :( mum works at the vets so he really has had the best possible treatment. He's just had a blood transfusion because he has lost so much and the vet is letting mum take him home now as he wont settle in the kennel. So please please send your good vibes, he really needs them.

Keep strong Chip. Lots of healing vibes on their way.....

Hope your beautiful Chip gets well soon. x

Thanks everyone. He's got through the first night. Mum say's he is being a terrible patient, he was trying to bite her so much last night she couldn't give him his pain relief! She tried to get a muzzle on but I think he had just reached his limit, poor little guy. She's brought a cage home and he's lying in there so he feels secure. Will let you know the results of histiology as soon as we know. Thanks again :)

LOTS AND LOTS of healing vibes coming my 2 piggies 2 dogs 2 cats and rat are all sending theyre thoughts :laluot_29::laluot_29::laluot_29::laluot_29: i know its hard but try not to worry around him because i think dogs can actually feel (along with other animals) negative feelings and vibes. (Dog Whisperer Cesar Millan a legend!)

Thanks guys, I don't live at home with him anymore so he wont be able to pick up my worrying vibes! Mum says he is doing a bit better, he wagged his tail today xx>>> and is taking his meds in bits of sausage! The spleen was sent off today to be examined, apparently we have about 10 days to wait to find out whether it is malignant and if so whether it has spread to his whole body :... apparently the tumor was the size of a tennis ball! Poor guy, it amazes me how such big tumors can grow without us owners noticing a thing! It must have been crushing his other organs as we couldn't see it externally or feel anything. I hope all your vibes lead to good news for him, he is 13 now but Jack Russell's live to ripe old ages normally so i'm hoping he has some years left in him still.

Thats good his tail is wagging again. Heres to a speedy recovery to lovely Chip..

Oh he is such a beautiful dog, i have 4 of my own so can relate to how you must be feeling right now. I wish you many positive vibes and take care of yourself in this difficult time xx

Hi all,

So after many tears I feel that I am now able to post on here to update you all. Sadly it is not good news for my beautiful boy. The histology came back on Thursday and Chippie's tumor is cancer. It is very aggressive (as it often the case with tumors of the spleen) and whilst it doesn't appear to have metasticised it will do so in the next few months. The cancer is in his blood and therefore will affect every organ in his body :0 . The vet has given him 3-6 months.

I have been extremely sad but mum has been brilliant in helping me to stay positive. I'm not at home with him so it makes it a little harder for me as I can't make the most of him being here, but she's told me he is back to his normal self for now and is happy :) he doesn't know what's happening and I know mum will know when it's the right time for him to leave us. He is going to be thoroughly spoilt over the next few months! This is the hardest part about being a pet owner, but he has brought nothing but happiness to us for his 13 years of life and I have some lovely memories of him to cherish. Thank you all for your healing vibes x

I'm sorry he has cancer. You just have to cherish everyday he is here and as long as he happy that the main thing. He'll let you know when hes ready to go.. my old dog Holly sure did :(

Oh goodness what sad, awful news :( I'm so sorry hun 8...

oh hon,i have just caught up with this thread, how very sad for you all. What a beautiful dog too.

Have you seen Rilenceny has also posted something similar about his dog?

I am really really sorry, and i hope Chip has a comfortable time with you all before he departs to the bridge. It is a heartbreaking time, but you will look back one day and remember the lovely times you shared over the years.

Thinking of you all.

I'm so sorry for the bad news, at least he is happy and you have all these memories to look back on. the piggies send nose nuzzles x)xx>>>

Sorry to hear your news :(

I think its important to remember at times like this, that as pet owners, when the end comes, we have the ability to make sure they can go peacefully and without suffering - I hope that the same can be said for me when its my turn to go!

We had one client at work, whos dog needed to be euthanased - his favourite food was chocolate, but obviously he was never allowed any. Just before the vet injected him, they gave him a big bar of dairy milk :))

Enjoy the next few months with him - spoil the little woofer rotten!

Thank you to you all for your lovely messages. I did send Rilenceny a message yesterday to give him some advice as i've learnt a lot through this experience!

Thanks Amanda, your story made me smile :) I'm sure Chippie would happily scoff up some chocolate when the time comes, I will remember that. You are right about being lucky to be able to make the decision. I work in a hospital and it is horrible when people just want it all to end but they have to last it out until the very last minute :( thanks again
