I have four boys as some of you may know.

I'm considering letting three of them go, I don't have time for all of them with work and it's just not fair when they deserve so much more :(

How would I go about finding them new homes if it got to that point? I certainly want to make sure they will be really well looked after and couldnt bare the thought of them being unhappy :(

They are my babies but I don't know what to do, somebody please help me. Even the thought of walking away from them kills me :(

I think how you go about it depends on your current set up

Are they living together, separately, pairs?

If you rehome 3 of your 4, what will the set up with the remaining one be?

I have 2 who live together and I would want them to go together no matter what.

I have two that live on their own, they don't like other pigs at all (you'll know what I mean if you saw the pic of my thumb ;) )

I just think they deserve so much more :(

I am sorry that you are having to make this decision.

Perhaps you could try and hang onto your couple (who are not much more work than a single boar) and have yourself put on a waiting list for a reputable rescue.

That way, your single boys could have a good chance to be paired up again with a likely candidate. Some boys take a bit longer, but in the end even difficult customers with few exceptions will find a friend of their liking and can then go to a new (home checked) home with a companion. Rescues often get pregnant sows coming in, so there is always the possiblity of trying a dominant boar with a little baby.

You closest recommendable rescues can be found on this facebook page:

haha yes, I did see your thumb! How is it now?

It would be a shame to keep two boars on their own. Would you be in a position to keep a pair of pigs? Pigs really are group animals, and should be kept in at least pairs. Have you tried boar dating?

These rescues are reputable guinea pig rescues within a reasonable distance of Cambridge and may be able to help with dating, although not all rescues do dating. There are other rescues available if you can travel.

If a forum member is interested and willing to take on some of your boys they will probably contact you on this thread or send you a pm.

Please be aware that it is completely up to you to make sure that any private home your piggies go to is a good one.
