i have just rescued a tiny red eyed white Rex from the adoption centre in P@H and I think he is beautiful. He was all alone. I have got him a Ferplast 100 cage because I want to have him neutered and for him to go in with the girls after the six weeks.

I have just contacted a vet who is experienced with piggies and I have an appointment on Wednesday 23rd, so I am prepping a list of all of the questions that I want to ask.

Can I set up his cage next to the girls now, or does it have to be in another room?

It was my fault. My OH fell in love with him, and so did I. I couldn't just leave him in there all alone...and now I feel like a monster

You are are very kind person. Not a monster. It is situations like these that have led to me having six hamsters (four syrians and two roborovskis). Your new boar looks gorgeous. I am sure that he will be very impressed to have to sows to live with in the near (ish) future.

I think youtube have some videos

I recommend petspalacetv or petspalaceplus

My advice in terms of housing, is no, keep them apart, the smell will drive your girls a bit mental and not only that but the quarantine needs to be just that. Don't share covers etc., and use a good quality cleanser between handling your new beautiful boy and your girls.

He's a little gorgeous ball of fluff! x

You're the opposite of a monster! Imagine if he'd have been adopted by a well-meaning but not overly knowledgeable person, he might never have had company, or been paired inappropriately by someone who doesn't necessarily know the ins and outs of bonding.

Everything you've done is for the welfare of this little one, and he's going to be luckier than most boy piggies when he ends up with his harem :))

He's adorable, looks just like our Snowy! I agree with above, keep them apart for now. I think they might wind each other up unintentionally otherwise!

Your not a monster, I recently fell in love with another rescue boar. Sometimes you just have to give in and ....come on whats the possibility he would have ended up in a home better than yours? Not a very high chance.

He will now be well cared for, have a harem of lovely ladies and all it cost him was a sweet pose and the loss of some "bits". It's a small price to pay to live out the rest of his days in piggy paradise!

My boars were 5 or 6 months old when they were neutered. I had to move the girls into the kitchen because the boys were going mad being able to smell the girls and they were fighting, with just one boy he may find it frustrating not being able to be with the girls but at least he won't be fighting with another piggy.

I agree with @Mother Hubbard - please maintain a strict quarantine and keep them completely separate at the moment. Hopefully your vet can advise whether this little one can be neutered immediately or whether you need to wait.
Once you have neutered him please keep him separate from the girls for the full 6 weeks to prevent pregnancy.

They will be kept separated until 6weeks after his operation.

For 2 weeks he is in our bedroom, and the girls are in the back room.

Can I put his cage next to the girls after 2 weeks because he is on his own

It should be ok after 2 weeks to house nearby (unless any obvious illness/infestation etc is seen by then). But the smell of sows will drive him wild so housing him right next to them is not the best idea unless he is in a lidded cage with no chance of escape. Do not underestimate the power of a sow's scent upon a young boar!
