i have two guinea pigs one of them was peeing a light pink color then about 1 hour later i saw a spot of dark red (blood) but it’s been about 20 min later my guinea pigs are acting fine and no one is peeing and i do not know which pig it is nor what to do. should i still put a vet appointment? they are both eating hay and food pebbles and drinking?

It's always worth getting things like this checked out by a vet .

Also, it'd be worth you getting a urine sample from your guineas . Here is a thread to help ...

How To Collect A Urine Sample

( I will add an addendum to the thread - I use a syringe to draw up my guinea's wee when collecting a sample - but I don't decant it into a specimen pot - I take it to the vet in a syringe ).

Yep you'll still need a vet appointment I'm afraid. I always take pigs in pairs anyway but as you're unsure who it is your vet should be able to examine them both to see who it is. With blood it could be cystitis which is quite painful and it will be obvious who it is, my Tonks had that and when being examined she felt the pain bless her.

Good luck at the vets, hope they're doing okay!

I've had this a few times, it has mostly been due to UTIs but one girl had ovarian cysts. Take them to the vet, hopefully it will just be a UTI which can be treated very easily with an antibiotic and a little coochy wash a couple of times a day.

If in doubt, please have your piggy vet checked during regular hours in the next few days.
The very early stages of a URI or cystitis can be very inconsistent. Not every pee contains blood. To confuse the issue further, high blood can be found in clear pees and dark red pees can tst free of blood. If it is this, more symptoms should appear and the blood and protein amount in the pees should go up and become more persistent, allowing your vet a better diagnosis.

Taking a urine sample to the vet may be the fastest way to assess which pig it is and to treat for underlying infection. What I've done in this case is to separate both pigs by putting them in a tupperware container, giving them some veggies with a high water content (cucumbers, lettuce rinsed with water and not dried off) and then waiting for them to pee. Collect the sample (make sure you remember which pig it's from!) and take both off to the vet for a dipstick to assess and see which one has blood in their urine. Hope this helps!

Will she need antibiotics most likely or will it be something like surgery?
