Something is deff. wrong with Patchy! I'm scared he wont make it. 8...8...
Hes struggleing to breath. Hes opening his mouth and hes doing a jerking movement. I dont know what it might be. Were taking him to the vet tomorrow! But i was wondering if any of you all know what this maybe? Or if its fatal? He cant walk either. And he sticks low to the ground when he does walk. He squeaks when he moves and when hes just laying there. He seems like he cant breath. He does a jerk and squeeks. 8...8...8... I'm sooo scared. I hope he makes it through the night. </3 Odie the other gp is well. He doesnt seem to have any problems. He hasnt since weve had him. Patchy has been to the vet twice already though. This will be his 3time going. He didnt eat today. And my bf is freaking out, and instead of showing his emotions hes getting upset. But this is just the way he hides his sadness. He wants me to get rid of Odie and sell him if he thinks that Patchy wont make it! >.< I dont know what to do. 8...

I cant get him to the vet right now, they are all closed, there is not emergency type of place to take him over night. Thats kinda of why I'm freaking out. :( I want to know what I can do for him now, to help him get thru the night.

hmmm it could be anything maybe a stroke? i had these symptoms with sprite and the vet diagnosed it as his nervous system shutting down and there was nothing at all we could do he was pts because he was in so much pain.I'm guessing he is not eating? try syringing water to stop dehydration and maybe pureed baby food from a spoon or syringe.i would say there isnt much but try getting food and water into him, keep him warm with a hot water bottle if you have one or a heat pad,and have you got critical care if you do i would give that also x

Make him comfortable, critical care and syringe water if youdon't have critical care used mashed pellet made with water or his favourite veg mashed up. It's crucial to keep his system going.

Good luck!

Patchy has passed away....We miss him already....

I'm so sorry, those jerky movements are known for when they are passing over to the bridge. By that time the pig is usually out of it and isn't suffering.

Thinking of you and Patchy,

Louise

i would get him a brother does your boyfriend want to?

Yes he suggested it. I think he was just upset about the possibility of losing Patchy. He cried and I'm still crying. But we thought that it wouldnt be fair to leave Odie alone in the dark. He hasnt come out of his home since he saw his brother die right in front of him... :(

We might get him a friend next week or this week. Odie just came out...hes freaking out....I think he expected seeing his brother to play with...Hes searching the cage. 8......

Thank you all. It makes me feel better to know that were not going thru this alone...

I would really consider getting Odie a new friend, especially if he's withdrawn. We did for our Bertie after his life-long friend passed becuase he just wouldn't leave the house. The boys had ALWAYS shared the one house and it was very sad that he was always in there alone. 5 long days passed and we got Finlay who turned Bertie's life upside-down. Although Bertie is prone to illness, when fit he's an unrecognisable piggy full of life and VERY cheeky...

We think we might get him a friend soon. My boyfriend wants to get him a female/sow though. I dont know, I think he would be better off with a boy instead. Patchy and Odie knew eachother from the start. And they couldnt live without eachother. When Patchy passed away today, Odie ran out of his home (after about 2hours)and was kinda of in a panic, he was looking for Patchy all over the cage. I felt like he was probably thinking..."Where is he?! I was sure I saw him here, maybe hes on the other side of the cage." He came out this morning and as soon as he sees someone he runs back into the house where they both would spend alot of time. It makes me feel horrible, that Odie is alone and just seeing him sit in his house waiting for Patchy. I think he might feel unsafe and insecure. </3

:o(

Omg I'm so sorry - I just read your post and my heart goes out to you. You clearly love your pets dearly, sometimes there's just nothing we can do. I hope you feel better soon x

Thank you...We burried him outside, and placed him in the boxx he came in with us. We put his fav. food with him and took Odie (the other gp) outside to say goodbye to his brother. </3

I'm sorry you lost him, RIP little man.

He may very well pine for his brother, so if you decide to get him another friend, please consider a rescue, www.cavyspirit.com is a US based site who may be able to help locate one in your area, there are many guineas needing homes :)

Thank you, I am going to look into a adoption, but just not from that website. I used to be on that persons forum, and they were VERY disrespectful.
But thank you, I am going to check all my shelters and other adoption places first. :)

Sorry you had a bad experience, they have such a wealth of info on their website.

Great to hear you are considering adoption, best of luck :)
