PatchesMom

Hi all!
Wow I never knew that Guinea Pigs were so popular. I am a new mommy to a precious little girl named Patches.. I have a couple of questions. Patches is very healthy, no runny poops, very good appetite and lets just say I go through a ton of oranges.. I believe Patches is in season and these are my questions. I noticed tonight in changing her bedding( I do this daily) that the white bedding had a tinge of pink color to it... I was wondering if maybe that meant shes in season... Could someone give me some advice please... I got Patches about a month ago and took her to a vet and my vet said she was in great health.. I would like to keep it that way, as I have lost two of my dogs within six months of each other and I have grown quite attached to my little girl.. Thanks so much!

Hi there and welcome to the forum from us in OZ :) :)
I've only ever had boys, but there is similar threads in here you could look at O0
I think you'd be best to see a vet as it could be that she's got an infection :-\ :-\ that could be the reason for the blood on her bedding :-\
This can be fixed with medication O0
Are you in the US ? perhaps you've got an emergency vet clinic near by that you could at least ask there advice O0
You're little Patches sounds gorgeous :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
Very sorry to hear about your dogs 0:) 0:) :'( :'( :'( :'(
Let us know how things go :) sending healing wheeks for little Patches :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

"Guinea pigs don't have periods so they shouldn't bleed at all. They are so lucky!
Any sign of blood I would get to a vet, it isn't right at all. "

I just found that info in another thread from here in health and illness.
Don't panic just keep her warm and eating and drinking and get her off to the vets O0

go straight to the vets, a course of anti-biotics is all she should need. x

yeah id go to the vets too, good luck O0

also they shouldnt eat too many oranges as its quite acidy and can cause sores on the lips

Could be all the oranges has changed the colour of her wee but I would go to vets and get it checked out :)

Thanks Guys, Took her to the vet this morning and she is fine.. He said that it was possible during her season time to have a pink tinge to the urine.. He also said to bring her back in if the pink doesnt go away in about a week and if there were any changes.. So she is a happy little runt.. I just wish I could get her a cage mate.

welcome to the forums from me and the girls from oz :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: glad patches went well at the vet :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: have you a rescue near you? as they will allow you to take patches with you so she can pick out a mate. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: would feed less oranges and more hay and grass. sending hugs and cuddles to you and patches :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: and the girls send :-* :-* :-* hoping you find patches a friend, a rescue piggy too would be health checked and there'd be less risk than a pet shop or home bred one. good luck :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
