Hey everyone

I need some advice

A few months ago we had a rat come into the flat via a pipe (that the council were supposed to seal off) it came in the kitchen but only stayed behind the cooker and also under the bath tub. Well i panicked and moved my piggies into my room as they were in the living room but near the entrance to the kitchen.

We called the council and they came and layed poison but the poison that he layed attracted another rat so we called this company and they were great and came and layed a different poison and the rats went within 3 days.

Well the bloke from the company said that the smell of the guineas was attracting the rats. I spoke to matt about having the guineas back in the living room, he said that he wants to keep them in the bedroom as they could attract the rats again. The guineas are still in my bedroom at the moment but i cant sleep properly and the cage biting is driving me nuts.

I know Matt will proberbly go mad but do you think i am safe to put them back in the living room? I really miss them being in the living room aswell but I'm just scared that all hell will break loose with matt. Can rats do harm to guineas?

This is driving me mad.

i would put them back in the living room

and it cant be the smell of the guinea pigs whats making thme come it will of been the whole in the pip there so and went to have a look it see what was at the other side

The council have been and closed up the pipe and there have been no rats for 2 months.

I'm just worried

Aww, maybe change their bedding if it pongs? But hopefully if they are sealed well, then all should be ok?

Anything can attract rats - a stinky dustbin outside. I don't think that having your pigs inside will attract them. Maybe if their dirty bedding is put in the bin outside & they follow the scent in - that could be a minimal reason why they might come to the house. Try doing a midnight disposal of bedding in a bin on the next street ;D

lol i think thats what it could be. As we live in a flat we used to keep our rubbish just outside in binbags but now we have got really big bins from the coulncil.
