no matter where i put the water bottle elvis sits under it. he gets wet because if u press hard on it the water comes out. please help

ps I'm getting a new hutch for him when the weather is better so that means ill get a new water bottle but for now what should i do

Well, I guess, does he like getting wet? If it's the drip drop that he likes on his coat, you might try dripping some water on him when he's out of the cage.. see if he likes it.

If he doesn't like the water, maybe he likes his back to be scatched by the bottle? Is there fur missing in a line there?

Maybe he's just a goofball and you might have to bath him (if his water has vit. c in it) or just let him be! It's not always bad to get a little wet.. Sounds like he might just be one silly little piggy! ^-^ 98)

Also, could he be REAL hot?

My pigs sit in their poo patches. They poo in the corner of the cage then sit in it and munch hay. Dirty little fiends! I often have to push them away from it. Bless

Is it in the middle of a rosette or just a weird spot of fur missing?

If it's the latter, he's probably got too dry of skin, or early mites! :tickedoff:

Do you bath him? If so how often? Also, do you use an oil based shampoo to give him some moisture so his skin is drying out? Sounds like he's got some sort of an itch and can't reach it.. so he uses the water bottle to help! ;D

Totally agree. The water dripping onto his back might actually be soothing for him :)

My Squeaky has a small patch of hair missing on his back, but that was from a fight not long ago

One day I picked up Rocky and noticed a line or missing fur and scabby skin down the middle of his back where he had been itching at the water bottle. Poor guy's skin was way to dry and he couldn't reach the itch!

awwww poor love :) Trouble is sometimes we don't know it's mites til it's right there and is a problem

I've got a few pigs who insist on lying under the water bottle charlie for one loves it he rolls from side t side under it, guess he just likes it, hes got a gorgeous coat so no worrys there

How do you treat mites anyway? I recently got a little girl who had just a couple tiny little scabs on her belly. They haven't gotten worse, and she isn't itching constantly or anything. She is now in the same cage with another guy, so how do I tell if it is mites or not, and if it is, how would I treat my piggies for this?
