So last week I took Zee to the vets last week because she kept screaming out in absolute pain when she went to the bathroom. But she wasn't actually going sometimes.

At the vets he extracted her bladder gosh did she scream I almost punched the vet! Zee had both crystals and blood in her urine. So she was then taken to get an xray because he suspected a stone and well she did have one. One the size of a 1p coin! Plain to see on the xray so she was given a pain relief by injection!
Almost punched the vet again as she really screamed then. She stayed so calm and friendly though the whole way through she actually walked across the table to see the vet and boy did he love her!

But now my dilemma is that in 3 days her antibiotics are over and she has to go back to the vet for a follow up where I have to deicide whether to put her through the surgery or the other option...which is keeping me up at night.

She is 6 years old and tiny so I really am not sure if its fair to put her through anymore pain. She's been through so much.

Any advise or comfort is very much appreciated. x

I do not have any advice but want to say how sorry i am that she is poorly.

I am so sorry to hear your news :(

At the end of the day, the ultimate decision has to be yours but my Eliza is 6 in November. We recently had to make the decision of having to put her through surgery to have an eye removed. The surgery went very well and she made it through. We are now having complications which is another story (I have a thread for that) but due to Eliza's age, I was very worried about putting her through surgery. After a discussion with my vet, she felt that Eliza was strong and healthy enough to withstand the GA and explained that if she died during the op, it would just be like putting her to sleep but at least she would have had the chance.

i suggest you have a detailed discussion with your vet before making any decisions. Any good vet wouldn't recommend surgery unless they felt the animal was strong and healthy enough.

Earlier in the year, I sadly had to have my Erin who was only 3 PTS as the same vet felt she wasn't strong enough to make it through surgery.

Have to echo Claire's wise words with older piggies - stones are a nightmare having a boar who had one removed 2 years ago :(
It's the GA and the recovery period with 'senior' piggies takes a bit longer so discuss in length - piggies are surprisingly hardy and know you'll make the best decision for Zee :)

How is zee getting on? Guessing today is the last day of her antibiotics?
Hope she's improving &healing vibes coming your way. Xx :)

I have no advice but wanted to send beautiful Zee lots of love x x
